How do you usually approach an argument?

I try not to let things get to an argument, but if I'm in an argument I try to be rational, but if it's clear the other person is not listening to a thing I say or they're just playing the victim even while they're saying some pretty nasty things, I just leave. Goodbye. Not talking to you.

In all seriousness, usually it's best to just have everyone calm down, take a step back and communicate slowly and civilly rather than get all loud and angry. Sometimes putting things in writing also helps. It's easier to visualize and track the causes and effects of the problem if things are written down.

My dad once told me something he got from, I believe a readers digest, "Never judge someone unless you've walked a mile in their shoes, because then you'll be a mile away and have their shoes." LOL, I generally try to be a voice of reason during arguments, but occasionally i like to play the devil's advocate as long as the arguments stay civil

I generally avoid conflict although sometimes it's inescapable. I hate being at odds with people which means I generally try to resolve conflict, but sometimes the other party is just unreasonable or refuses to listen. In those cases, it's best to walk away. It's just not worth it.

If I can avoid getting into an argument I will, but if I end up getting involved in one I usually approach it more like a cross-examination; I'll listen to what someone says and see if that checks out with my understanding of the situation. If it doesn't, I'll push that line of questioning further to see if I'm being lied to or not. After an argument I usually block it out and I'll be fine with the person (or people) involved the day after, if not before then. When it's more serious is strange, because the thought of losing a friendship really hurts me, so I'll actively put more effort in to fix things if that's the case.
