That sounds interesting Char. Though I know you've mentioned magic, but what time setting are you planning on having it in? Typical medieval type, more modern or something else entirely? I find what's capable of being done in the time of the setting [depending on the era etc.] can play into how your villain's roll out.

Immortality sounds like the only way to go. I suppose the apprentice mage has contained the katydid in something like a jar? His immortality will have to keep him from being able to be crushed too -- an eternal defensive spell of sorts that for whatever reason this heroic mage character can overcome. I'd propose something to the effect that this defensive spell, while incredibly powerful, is still able to be thwarted if someone who possesses greater offensive magical powers attacks him.

I think the setting is what's going to make things work here. I personally would limit the amount of attention given to attaining these powerful stones if you want to focus on other elements of the plot more -- which I think is a good idea.

It'd the typical medieval type setting, with melding of several other cultures ^^ So, not a whole bunch of technology. Swords and such. Yep ^^

x3 Yesh, mages! <3 Fire Emblem's been fueling the muse, it appears xD

Mkay, yeah, I think immortality would work--and yep, it'll still be in effect when he's a katydid, even though he can't use his powers. And yeah, the katydid will actually be contained in a cricket cage (inspired by the Chinese, who crafted elegant cages specifically for keeping crickets as pets for thier songs and for fighting. Hmm, and that spell thing would work, I think. I was thinking for a while thinking about getting demons or something involved, but maybe that would work better. Hmm...

Hmm, and okay--good point. I gotta get things planned out here a little better, me thinks, but it might be good to limit that. Thanks :)

Lore is key in a fantasy world--gods, heroes, and demons are a must.

I was saying you raise a great point that creates a good option to resolve her earlier dilemma as to the purpose of her MC's journey.
