I haven't had the time to sit down and read it (actually, this is the first time I've been on since last month ^^'), but you've certainly set a trend in the WD! :D


It's been really quiet here, lately, but, uh... How's it going, writers? ^^

I've been thinking about a Christmas event for the Writer's Desk--people could just post little excerpt they've written about how their characters celebrate Christmas or any other holiday this time of year. Anyone interested?

Cool--I was actually mulling a bit where the heroes and heroines of Pokemon get snowed in at The Fun Zone (a massive complex of just about any fun thing available with branches all over my imagined Pokeworld)

Well, where shall I start? I love reading science fiction and fantasy genres, and I'm a self-proclaimed bibliophile. I'm very nitpicky over what I read, especially since mainstream fantasy literature has been invaded by unspeakable horrors (read: Twilight, The Mortal Instruments, and other trashy vampire/werewolf romance). I aspire to be a published fantasy novelist. In my free time, especially when down with writer's block, I write poetry. I love poetry; it's so malleable and expressive. I love learning new poetic forms. Recently I found an obsession with senryus, which are the cousins of haikus, and tankas. xD I'm also trying to get my poetry anthology self-published on an ebook but a. I'm lazy and I've been gaming most of the time these days. b. I've no idea how to get started because some say Amazon is bad/good *confused* c. I'm a bit scared tbh.

Fellow fantasy nut here--what do you look for in a fantasy story?

Well I'm not really crazy over action but I love to read descriptions of epic magic battles between mages. As a worldbuilding perfectionist, I like worlds with variety and creative symbolism. Also I don't like systems whereby magic gets very overpowering (e.g. no cap on usage, OHKO spells *coughharrypottercough* etc).

I've never heard of senryus (that's a cool word... maybe I'll name a character that xD) before, but I'm totally going to look it up now ^^ That's cool that you're trying to get a book of poetry self-published :O It does sound a little scary publishing through Amazon--I've think I've come across some self-publishing advice somewhere, now that I think about it. I'll go through my bookmarks and see if I can find it again ^^ Anyway, welcome again to the group! It's awesome to have you here! :D


@Everyone: Hey, sweet! I wasn't sure if it'd get enough interest! Well, I went ahead and wrote up a thread, and you can find it here. I don't really have any limits with posts, as long as it's related to the holidays. Heck, it can be as short as you'd like :D Now go and post in there, my pretties >:3 I'm looking forward to reading some of your stories! ^^

Hey, guys! Sorry this group's been so quiet lately, but I wanted to let you guys know--if any one is interested in playing around with your characters, I recently opened a Character Chat thread in the Writer's Desk! ^^ You're welcome to bring in characters of any kind! From Roleplays, canon characters, ect, ect!

Other than that small update, I hope everyone's doing well ^^ (and keeping up with their writing, hopefully :D)
