I came in like a wrecking ball...
The Uni Break To-Do List
So today I handed in my final assignment (other than my exams in two weeks), and tomorrow I will have my final class for the semester. Then I don't have class again until July 10th. 46 days of sweet freedom. My plan is to get at least one more day of work a week, but not too much that I have no free time. I have a lot I want to accomplish.
So here is the plan. I am creating a list. A list of things I want to get done between now and then. It will be separated into three categories depending on how hard the tasks are to accomplish. I will post here and keep it updated with what I have managed to achieve. So here it is.
The Desolate Divine (aka Jacob) Uni Break To-Do List
Easy
-Fix my car.
My car isn't in a great state at the moment. Like, it still runs, but it looks like crap and has a couple of issues that could get me in trouble with the law. As it stands it needs a service, so new oil, oil filter and air filter, new front brake pads, new front tyres, a wheel alignment, new globes for the number plate light and a brake light, and maybe a new fuel filter and O-ring for that. I am allowing $500-$600 to cover that.
-Reach 10,000 photos.
In my scrapbook thread with my photos, I have a quote at the start about your first 10,000 photographs being terrible. As it stands, I have taken 7500 and really want to pass that. I haven't taken many photos in recent weeks outside of youth group due to lack of time. Now I can't use that as an excuse.
-Organize a night out in the city.
Fairly simple. Similar to my birthday. Get a couple of mates who're keen, find a cool bar in the city and have some laughs and good times.
-Restore my car to the way it was.
As I said, the state of my car is a joke. It used to be so nice. So what this includes is putting back in the footwell lights (I forget why I removed them), re-do the underglow lights (this time with waterproof LED strips), and re-do the boot lights (as the LED strips came down and it is now a mess.
-Clean my rooms.
I know that sounds like it should be something I do normally, but honestly, the way things have been the last few weeks it has been so hard to find the motivation to do it, and it has built up. And I have two bedrooms so it is twice the work...
Meh
-Buy new light bars.
My car is the middle of the range model. It isn't complete povo-pack but it isn't the fancy model with fog lights, sun roof and seat warmers. This is good. Because instead of fog lights, it has these bits of black plastic to fill the space. I plan on buying two eight inch light bars, and cutting the plastic to fit it, and putting them in at a slight angle to light out the sides a little, as my current light bar is useless for the sides. I am estimating that project being $200-$300.
-Powdercoat wheels.
A few years back, I covered my wheels with a spray on rubber coating to make them a pearly white colour. They looked amazing at first however due to the nature of the coating, it needed to be cleaned as soon as it had dirt. I let it get too dirty and it soaked it in so I removed it. I want that colour again but want it done properly, so will get it powder coated instead. This will set me back about $500.
-Organize an overnight trip.
Similar to the bar thing, I'd love some sort of overnight trip. Rent a house near the beach for a night or two with some mates, or pitch tents if weather permits. A few drinks, some laughs. This will be a bit trickier, and I'd need to learn how to organize this stuff.
-Sing at church
I'll technically do this Sunday but that's in a small group and without a mic. I'd love to be more comfortable singing and be able to sing on a Sunday.
-Master drifting in Forza Horizon 3.
I'm loving Forza Horizon 3 and wanna get better at cornering. I'm about halfway there but relying on the rewind button. My goal is to win a race using drift techniques without rewinding...
Well at least you're being optimistic!
-Buy another car.
For about the last eighteen months, I have desperately wanted to buy an old Mazda RX7 and fix it up. I'd love to buy a rolling shell and build it from there up. A rolling shell will probably be about $2000. I never said it'd be easy in that time, but I'd at least like to make some progress with that money.
-Have a date.
Seriously, I have had zero luck with girls in the last few years. I'd love to have a date sometime in this break. There is a girl who's on my mind at the moment, but I am not sure if I am just rebounding or not. I'll be spending a few days with her at the start of June, so I'll see how I feel about her after that.
I have other stuff I wanted to add, but it escapes me so I'll update this over the next couple of days.
But yeah, wish me luck!
