Pokemon Core RPG in Development for Switch

[Crossroads Bulletin]

During Nintendo’s Spotlight presentaton at E3 today, The Pokemon Company president and CEO Tsunekazu Ishihara announced that GAME FREAK are developing a core Pokemon RPG for the Nintendo Switch.
It is unknown whether it will be a brand new game or a port of an existing game (ie. Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon or the rumoured Pokemon Stars). No other details were given besides that it may be over a year until release.

“GAME FREAK has begun developing a core RPG Pokemon title on Nintendo Switch. It may not release for more than a year, but we hope you’ll look forward to it all the same.”

I'm interested. I've enjoyed the console installments. I'm hoping we can get an original game, but we're likely to get a port... which is fine, but yeah.

It does sound like they're talking about an original game. And it seems really weird to port a game to Switch like 6 months+ after it's released on 3DS. XD Then again that would be a Nintendo thing to do haha.

I planned on buying a Switch anyway. Just with how GF has been throwing a lot out there we don't want rehashed (looking at Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon here) I'm hoping for the best, but not getting my hopes up.

EDIT: But anyway so hype! If is going to be more than a year I should have a paying job by then so I might actually be able to buy the switch and the game(s). Kinda sad to see them move away from the 3DS though. It makes sense but I liked only having to buy the games. It was cheaper and easier to save up for.

I'm kinda hyped about this. If it ends up being a port, I may get it. If it's not a port, then ALL ABOARD THE HYPE TRAIN. WOOT WOOT. I've wanted a main Pokemon game on a home console for a long time, and the Switch is the perfect console to do it on.

Crap, I was hoping it'd be longer before the Switch gets mainline Pokemon... I doubt I'll be able to afford one by the time they release... :(
