...Infinitely more unexpected. He, personally, had been expecting to make Laura leave the arena at some point sooner or later. He doubted she would’ve been able to face off against a Black Onyx member.

Defeating one would be incredibly different. If Laura hadn’t been in the arena, if Xavier had had a full team of trained and dangerous Pranksters, he may have attempted it. But while Laura had done better than he expected, she was still far from the level of a Lotus member.

The Grand Lady and her new ally forfeiting…

He frowned, tail swishing. Something was off about that. She had brutally maimed the volcarona, and left the Gracidea Order’s single surviving participant, Athena Decidueye… In fairly good shape.

It would be a pathetically simple matter for Athena to just end Vurden’s life.

It did not add up to him. Unless…

He frowned. Perhaps there was a sort of alliance between the Steel Scavengers and the Gracidea Order?

That had to be the answer.

He swished his tail again. Why would they team up? Perhaps they were planning something major…

Once he was recovered, he would have to look into it further.
