Levi's thoughts raced as the braviary studied him. It only now occurred to him that he should have brought along some form of identification. Rushing into things again, he chided himself. I need to do better than this.
After a few minutes, to his relief, Masamune appeared to believe them, and gave a brief explanation. Lyra glanced around nervously at the mention of the Black Lotus, surreptitiously backing away from the direction Masamune had come from.

"Perhaps we could speak in the privacy of an outpost. Or maybe a bar would be more suitable for secrecy. I am open to suggestion. Still, we must be quick about this. No need to be caught doing something we shouldn't be doing."

At that time, there was nothing Levi wanted less than to return to the outpost, but one look at Masamune's back was enough to convince him. The burns looked even worse up close, and he was impressed by the pokemon's bravery, trailing a Lotus member in this condition. I wonder if that's where the name Braviary came from, Levi though with a slight smile.
Just as Levi was about to suggest returning to the outpost, he heard a cracking sound coming from behind him. Turning around, he saw several figures closing in on them from behind. A quick glance around confirmed his fears; they were surrounded.

What appeared to be the groups leader stepped forwards, a golem with electricity sparking along his back. Alolan golem, usually strong, but slow. And especially weak to a certain type of move that just happened to be his favourite. Levi quickly scanned the others; there were six visible, most were weak to ground moves, which gave Levi a slight advantage if a fight were to break out. Lyra was doing her best impersonation of a billboard, pressed up unmoving against a wall. Masamune was facing the group down as thought he knew they were coming. They were following him? Or did he call them here? Was this a trap?

Levi didn't have to wonder for long, as it turned out that the golem was an "old friend" of Masamune from the Sentinel Corporation. As the conversation quickly turned south, Levi began rapidly flicking his gaze between the would-be assailants, trying to figure out who would make the first move. As such, he had his back turned to the nidoqueen as she began he attack, only ducking to the side a split second before his head would have been violently disconnected from his body. Rolling to the side, Levi span around, slicing at the nidoqueen's throat with a Dragon Claw, then leaping back a few steps opened his mouth and engulfed the injured pokemon in a wave of flames, courtesy of the move Incinerate.

Satisfied that his opponent wasn't getting back up, Levi quickly surveyed the battle. Lyra seemed to be holding her own against a meowstic and liepard, while the others hung back, apart from the golem, who was still fighting Masamune. Snarling, Levi ran at the golem, glowing with the purple aura of a Dragon Rush, and leaped at the gangs leader. However, even barrelling into him at full force, he barely knocked the pokemon back an inch, and did little visible damage. Staggering back, he realised that his charge had done more harm than good, as now he was surrounded again.
"Is that all you kakos got?" he taunted, feeling a lot less confident than he hoped he sounded.
