Same here. I usually start with:

    1. First paragraph - Very early childhood, things they did as a kid, and some blurbs about the rest of the family including parents and any other siblings. You can also mention how they got along and any sibling rivalries that were present.

    2. Second paragraph - Growing up, what they did in school and how they performed. Was your character a straight A student (I don't usually go this route), happy to have a B average (I can relate to this the most), or just barely passing with Ds? If your character is someone that has gone on a Pokemon journey already, mention how they handled it, what their battling style was like, and how successful they were with it. They may have also gained a few friends along the way.

    3. Third paragraph - Take everything you have already and tie it into the current plot of the RP. How was your character pulled into the current situation of the plot, what were their initial reactions, and what are their new goals now that they've been affected on a personal level? Is there hope of going back to normal for them, or are they just trying to fight for a situation they'll be willing to cope with? Is there anyone else they're trying to help in light of the crisis, such as family, friends, or girlfriends/boyfriends?

That's pretty much the basic gameplan I use and it cranks out pretty much everything I need to have a nicely fleshed out history and gives the character some kind of role, goals, and stake in the storyline.

I like to start off with a name and appearance first. Often times the appearance of my character will help me work out their personality and/or backstory. Then I start off chronologically, from when they were a teeny child to whatever they're doing now. xD It works for me. Lastly I add in any extra connections that may seem important, or side notes.

I'm always all over the place. If I start from point 1-the end I always end up wanting to go back and change things around more. It's tough on me that way

At least if it's for GCEA, you can always change things as you go. And your character is expected to change and develop over the journey. I don't even remember what was on my sign up sheet haha.

I'm just hoping I actually keep up with it and not flake out like I used to do whenever I joined RPs. xD

Yeah, I have that feeling, also. Usually it's because I wait too long on someone else and lose track of what I was doing in the first place. Other times, I might just get bored of the plot and can't think of any good ways to move it along.

That's true. *nudges @Chakramaster* Like this guy and his SU. xD

But the same thing happened to my fan-fic, anyway. I used to take such a long break in-between chapters that I'd lose my place entirely.

Kinda like how it's gone for me in your RP. I thought I knew where I could take it, but it just seems like I can't figure out my next step now D=

It's almost done Gem, don't worry! That is what I'm worried about too. Is keeping track of everything and losing interest or ideas of where to move ahead

Same here. I was trying to post the revised version of Trial of Juno, but... ugh, I'm just so tired of rewriting that series over and over again. Not to mention Trial of Juno IV is such a mess with the time-traveling junk and I knew that was going to be a nightmare to try and go through again to figure out what pray tell to do with it.

Quite frankly, I'd rather do something fresh and new rather than constantly try to tinker the same story over and over again and the whole concept and setting just got so stale. Plus, that story is kind of yesterday's news and trying to convince people to read that insanely-long saga isn't easy, especially when the protagonist is so unlikable in the beginning. People tend not to give the story enough of a chance and usually drop out before it gets to those more important parts. And I've explained this to people... only to not get much success out of it.

So yeah, that's kind of why I abandoned that.

Aw hell no. Anytime I add time travel to anything I get so confused it's like my head implodes. So I can totally understand not wanting to go back over that. xD

That's what I thought! I have this whole other fan-fic idea planned out, only now I've just become a mod again so.. *waves* goodbye life! It's on hold at least for a bit until I get stuff set up and sorted out. It's a shame that most people won't ever give ToJ a chance since it's so long, but mine's kinda similar. It's got 40 chapters and yet I feel like it went nowhere. x:
