I think places like Zoos and circuses are fine if they're treating the animals correctly because even though it's not the same as the wild they're at least being protected and taken care of in the zoos. Plus some animals just can't survive in the wild.

I dunno, I just don't believe in forcing an animal to do tricks and nonsense if they really don't like it and if it puts some kind of strain on them. I mean if a dolphin can bump a ball through a hoop, that's great, but if they're in poor health and are just plain unhappy, put an end to that. Trust me, I would WAY rather see the animals leading happier and healthier lives than seeing a few silly tricks and nonsense.

And I understand there are some zoo efforts that are working hard to keep certain species of animals thriving that probably would have been extinct by now if they hadn't intervened. Those are the awesome ones. I wish they could all be like that.

Yeah I mean I'm not trying to excuse them all because places like sea world do exist and are horrible. But I can remember there was a circus that used to come to town all the time but was forced to release all its elephants even though every inspection of the place came up that the elephants were very well treated, but because protests were getting out of hand, they had to release their elephants and the circus subsequently went bankrupt. It's cases like that that make me really mad.

    Yeah those zoos are great!

My stance is that humans should never, ever exploit animals for anything. Not their bodies, the products of their bodies, their feelings--anything. Just like how humans should never exploit other humans for those things. They're earthlings, and they're animals, just like humans. We all just want to live happy lives. Zoos that actually exist for the purpose of preserving species and allowing the species to continue existing, well, that would make more sense as a sanctuary than a place that people go so they can view animals put on display. I mean, you don't stick humans in cages and stare at them from behind glass walls, even if you're trying to protect them. I dunno, it's just creepy to me. Things like animal racing or circus stuff is disgusting. If you want to watch someone perform, watch someone who WANTS to perform, not someone who has no choice. Same with athletes. Horse racing is disgraceful. Athletes should be human-exclusive, because they actually want that life. Animals have no choice, which is plain and simple slavery.

Man is the cruelest animal. At tragedies, bullfights, and crucifixion he has so far felt best on earth; and when he invented hell for himself, behold, that was his very heaven.

Well, here's a question. Do you think humans are better at creating or destroying?

Eh... I dunno about that. Sure, people definitely trash a lot of stuff and we've all seen what environmental damage looks like, but we create an enormous amount of stuff also. Art, music, buildings, models, ideas, inventions, medicines, and the list goes on. As time goes on, things go obsolete, but new things often take their place. Heck, we've also created entire virtual and fictional worlds for each other to discover and explore.

So yeah, I'd have to lean on the belief that humans definitely create more than they destroy.

It is true, man has created wondrous things. But man has destroyed much more. War and murder for sport, only man is capable of such animosity.

War causes so much devastation, rips families apart. Destroys lives. And the acts men are capable of doing...makes my skin crawl.

Hate to say it, but animals and insects are just as capable of killing and going to war. It's not just humans. Ever watch wasps attack a beehive? That's definitely on the level of war, if not a complete massacre. Nature can be pretty scary and cruel in many ways, and many species have no issue with killing even their own kind.

Given, the death and destruction is not even near to the level of nuclear warfare, but it's still present.
