Basically! I've been out since Christmas. Granted I should have waited till I got a new job before leaving but I got tired of being pulled in every direction with no help.

Yeah, I don't get it. What the fudge do they want me to do, get in a time machine and go back a year and try all over again? My thoughts are if people don't understand it's a tough job economy out there and just make these lame assumptions that you haven't been trying, they're probably people that wouldn't be great to work for at all.

In my opinion, those who reject others based on unemployment bias really should try being unemployed themselves for a while. It ain't fun. :c

Right? Employers should acknowledge that you're trying to land a job and shouldn't be too crazy about your unemployment history (unless you're constantly getting fired, of course).

Mom and I are signed up with temp agencies and you should see the responses I get when I tell them that I can't work around magnets because of the fact that I have a pacemaker. I think they hear it as I don't want to because of this. One agency I was with and told them I couldn't work with magnets and where do they send me.....a factory with magnets.

Waaait, what?? that's horrible, just imagine if you told them you had a severe nut allergy, next thing you know you're working in a planters factory

They were apparently not that big and even got a note from my doctor saying it would have been okay for me to work there. But they wouldn't take me back and I can understand why. I have to be patted down/searched instead of going through metal detectors.

I'm signed up with a lot of temp agencies as well. My goodness, NJ is just so stuffed with pharma companies and junk. It does get a bit boring and tiring, but right now, I don't mind taking more of the same if it means a paycheck.

I don't mind doing factory jobs I just hate having to get up so damn early in the morning because that means I have to go to bed early to get enough sleep. I want to still be able to have time to have a life and hang out with friends without being to tired. I hate people who say I need to worry more about having a job than having a life.
