It was good, thanks! Today I picked up great Christmas gifts for my nephews, so I'm making pretty good progress on the shopping so far!

On Thursday I'm meeting with the colorectal surgeon, and I'll see if I'm able to lift a few of these restrictions a bit early based on the good healing progress. Maybe I'll be able to start driving again or increase the amount of weight I'm allowed to lift if he thinks things are looking good enough for that. That weight limit gets tough when doing laundry and having to bring down everything in 5-pound bags one at a time! One trip to the laundry room now takes four!

Yeah, I miss all those fun PXR events and games. And it wasn't just PXR that had its forum dry up. Every community essentially migrated over to Discord. I just couldn't get into it the way I got into forums and even many of those Discord communities became inactive from there just being nothing to really do.

I really hope that the appointment with the colorectal surgeon will go alright and that you will be allowed to lift some restrictions. Doing laundry is tedious enough even without any weight limit. Please let me know how it goes!

Have some good news, I've been all cleared to drive again (which I did and didn't have a problem!) and the weight limit has been upped to 20 pounds, which is great because now I don't need to bring laundry up and down in tiny little batches.

I'm seeing them again in two weeks on the 18th just as another secondary post-op examination, but I'm pretty sure it'll be fine. Definitely feels good to be back in action, thanks for all your support! :3

In the meantime, I'm having trouble coming up with a Christmas wish list to share with the family. Things that I want either fall into two categories. First is they're either too expensive (drawing tablet, gaming headset) and I wouldn't feel right putting them on the list and the second category is they're more of an everyday utility thing (batteries, mouthwash) and would be odd to wrap and put under a Christmas tree.

I also don't really need new video games or books. My backlog is crazy at the moment!

In my opinion, putting mouthwash/toothpaste/soap/shampoo/deodorant on your Christmas wish list isn't such a bad idea : if you have any pranksters in your family, they will be thrilled to give you a present that implies that you smell bad without you being offended!
(Giving someone one of those items as a present is usually a way to tell them that you think they smell bad.)

Yeah, even though my current gaming headset and drawing tablet are a bit beat up, they're still working great, so I don't really need new ones. Same thing with my alarm clock, keyboard and mouse, and all that other stuff.

I did add a new tablet to my list, as my old one has been absolutely dead for years and it would be nicer to watch YouTube videos on that as opposed to watching them on my phone screen. That was the only thing I could think of, though.

I hope you will indeed receive the new tablet you're interested in! Personally, I prefer to watch videos on my laptop.

Yeah, I only have my work laptop, and I try to make sure I only use that for work-related things. I treat it as though someone's always watching what I'm doing just in case. As a result, I only use my personal phone and desktop PC for the fun stuff.

Not sure what I'm going to do about my PC come a year from now. It's still on Windows 10 and I can't upgrade it, so I'll either need to get a new PC (yuck, that's expensive) or figure out how to use Linux in a way that keeps at least most of my applications still usable. And the rough thing is a lot of people are unhappy with Windows 11.

Actually, my laptop isn't compatible with Windows 11 either (and I don't want to use Windows 11 anyway for multiple reasons), so I recently spent a few weeks making the switch from Windows 10 to Linux. It was a long and difficult process, but I managed to overcome every obstacle I encountered along the way, I found a solution for all my Windows applications (either by running them on Linux, or by switching to a very similar Linux application), and now I'm very satisfied with this new operating system!
