    Esports

Do you watch Esports? If so what game(s) do you like to watch? Have favorite teams? Or just enjoy the competitive aspect in general? Are there any competitive games you wish had a (bigger) Esports scene?

Me personally I've been watching COD Esports for a long time now, five years at least. COD is the corner stone of adult gaming for me, and I've played a few competitive GBs (game battles). But I've learned a lot from watching the pros play, whether it's spawn manipulation, or learning how to put myself in a position to clutch up in SnD, stuff like that has kept COD from becoming too stale for me and made me a better player.

I've been watching a lot of Pro LoL too, maybe it's because I'm horrible at M+K but just watching some of the technical skill that pros have gets me pretty hyped up when they do something amazing.

Then there's the New Overwatch League, It's pretty interesting that they're going for a franchising. If it blows up, people will have home teams to cheer for as well as favorite players.

Don't forget that a lot of the younger gamers can now earn partial scholarships with more and more colleges fielding Esports teams. So it's safe to say that Esports is growing into a larger and larger market. Which is cool with me, since I don't really like hockey or basketball, it gives me something competitive to watch during the Amer. Football and Baseball offseasons.

I've only watched a tiny bit of the Overwatch League. It's pretty insane how much people know all the tiny little ins and outs of this game and I know that's definitely not something I could do despite all the many years I've played video games. And yep, it does teach you a few things that the pros have learned that give you clues as to how to be a better player, though I don't think I'll ever be good at one particular video game to this kind of degree. I just can't keep an attention span going that long. XD

I agree, it does give a nice alternative beyond watching regular sports, though. I can honestly say an Overwatch League match is WAY more interesting, intense, and exciting than something like baseball where most of the game players are just standing around.

Yeah, learning all the little details takes a lot of logged hours. Or playing with someone who can teach you the ins and outs. Even so, a lot of hard work to turn the mechanical into instinctual.

Watching OWL is so hectic to me sometimes, especially when they switch to bird's eye or 3rd person pov, all I can think is how can the casters pay attention to what's going on. On the other hand when you see someone start snapping with a Widow or landing hooks with Roadhog, it just get's my fingers twitching, and makes me want to play, usually poorly lol.

It's still crazy how a new game could be released and within less than a week, you have people already speed-running the thing. :O

And yes, I noticed that about OWL as well. It's a little pesky how they keep changing POV, but I guess they need to cover the whole match and can't just focus on one player in particular. But my goodness, the way some people can play Tracer is INSANE. I'm just okay with her and it's rare I can actually get the darn pulse bombs to stick, but compared to these peeps, my abilities with her aren't so hot. But yeah, watching these games just makes you feel like playing them. In fact, that's why I haven't watched too much of OWL. I'd rather be playing than watching. :P
