Have you ever done any martial art? Have you ever been interested in one?

I've never done any but I think it would be kind of fun. They look like good exercise. There are so many though, I wouldn't know what to try. xD I definitely wouldn't want to do any that people commonly get injured in. :P
I tried karate at my local YMCA many years ago as a kid. I didn't get that far into it, though. Only up to yellow belt with the orange band.
Wasn't too thrilled about it. It required a TON of memorization and perfect forms, and during these "exams" they had, you failed with just a few minor flaws like not squatting down low enough. And if that happened, they made you repeat the "semester." Over and over again. It really started to feel like it was just a way to get the money to keep rolling in. At first, my brother and I were in it together and I was really turned off by the way they humiliated him in front of the whole class during one of those stupid exams they had. He quit and shortly after that, I was also thrown into an adult-level class just because I was taller, not because I was older. As a result, the classes were harder and much more stricter, so it wasn't long before I just quit as well.
Not surprisingly, the YMCA no longer has karate or any of these martial arts programs anymore.
What little I know is from my dad and the Karate Kid xD. That's about it. I'd love to, but with the workload I have right now time is very short and I can't really plan anything because of how they have my schedule at work. It'd be fun to find an extracurricular thing to take part in after work. I'd probably start doing daily workouts before taking up something like Martial Arts.
The time is upon us...
. Pika Pair with the yellow bundle of fluff Chibi Altaria..
I remember going to one class on karate when I was a kid, but I was young and it intimidated me so I didn't stick around. xD It's not something I'm really interested in, but it would be good to learn for self defence.
Well, someone I used to hang around when I was in middle school told and shown me some relatively basic (but sensible) Taekwondo principles...he was I think a blue belt in it and I was 13 and it was all mixed in with messing around swinging sticks. So no, I do not know martial arts. I was never too drawn to them. I think if I were to try to get into it, it would be the HEMA route honestly.
