Neon for one. Neon signs are nifty and as a kid I wanted one... up until I saw they're not cheap.

Magnesium is a pretty neat metal, also. I remember in a chemistry class, we burned little strips of them and those buggers get BRIGHT AS HECK! Cool stuff.
