Yeah I was too. That was slightly unexpected.

Yeah, we're working on coming up with fun counters to that. It seems to be an ongoing trend. :P Other than this little blemish the game seems to work pretty well and is quite a lot of comical fun!

One of my ideas was to have an item that turns "not very effective" attacks you make into regular damage ones and "no effect" ones into super-effective ones! The only thing is you need to use it BEFORE your battle if you want to enjoy its effects (so if things look kind of grim for the Pokemon you are and what you could be up against, this might be a lifesaver, but you need to use it in advance). I call this fun item the Cheaty Cookie. XD

The other possible item counter to possibly flush out those seemingly pesky ghost types is Just Desserts. If you lose a battle, you can use Just Desserts to Wheel whoever triumphed over you. And the funny thing is the winner gets hit with their own Wheel! I have a funny feeling this item is going to be a pretty popular pick. XD
