That's a good question! My initial impression is that Gary would go for muscle over finesse, in line with his prized fighting Pokemon Arcanine and Nidoking, so maybe a Fighter or a Warrior? I can also inagine him signing on as a Paladin, but neglecting the healing and support aspects of the class initially before he comes to better work in a team.
