Name: Liesbet “Liz” Redwood
Age: 25
Gender: Female
Resident or Visitor: Visiting from Kanto
Occupation: Professor in Training
Appearance: 5’11” with a standard swimmer’s build type body. Bright green eyes that stand out against her latte toned skin and loosely curled chestnut hair that reaches her shoulders when let out of the high ponytail she usually keeps it pulled back in. Usually seen wearing a lab coat with the sleeves rolled up to the elbows over a pastel green button up she keeps tucked into a pair of khaki capris, but mostly unbuttoned to reveal a brown and cream striped cropped bathing suit top. She keeps her Pokeballs, as well as other equipment in a mostly waterproof, tan colored shoulder bag.
Personality: Cheery and full of energy, Liz can be an absolute handful for people who don't know what to expect from her, though those who are familiar with her aunt know where she gets it from. She does, however, take her duties as a professor in training seriously, and knows far more about water Pokemon, as well as Human-Pokemon relations than most might expect. She's far smarter and more organized than you might expect, but will still confused most people by readily jumping into just about any source of water big enough to swim in. She adores Pokemon as a whole, but has a special spot in her heart for water Pokemon in particular, and is commonly known to warn people not to underestimate "weak" Pokemon--after all, the weakest Magikarp can evolve into the strongest Gyarados as long as they have a trainer or partner who loves and believes in them.
History: Born as the third child of a five child family, Liz spent most of her childhood playing with her siblings and trying to navigate the utter chaos of her household. Growing up in Veridian City meant she spent a good chunk of her childhood surrounded by water, and the Pokemon in it became a source of fascination for the girl, however she initially dreamed of becoming a powerful water-type trainer like the Cerulean City gym leader, Misty. It wasn’t until her aunt, the airheaded Professor Redwood, stopped in for a family visit when Liz was seven that the girl changed her mind and instead set her sights on becoming a professor with a focus on the study of water types. She was offered a chance to start on her goal early when her aunt took up a position with a small lab in Slateport, Hoenn, and jumped at the chance to spend time studying the ocean and its Pokemon with her absentminded aunt.
It was after a particularly bad storm three months after joining her aunt that she met the Magikarp that would become her first Pokemon. Though Liz had a poor opinion of the fish Pokemon (they’re so weak!), she found one stranded on the street outside the lab, and knew her aunt would be upset if she left it alone, so she took it back to the lab to get it some help. What she didn’t count on was her aunt making her spend time with the Magikarp, which she was forced to name (Puddle), and she soon took a larger interest in the dopey fish that eventually evolved into the Gyarados she keeps with her today. Her Vaporeon was a gift from her aunt in the form of an Eevee shortly after she turned ten, and she slowly acquired the rest of her team through travels with her Aunt over the years after becoming the woman’s official assistant.
In more recent years, Liz has stepped away from helping her aunt in order to focus oin gaining her own Professor title and achieve her dreams. She’s spent a fair bit of time in most regions at this point, though she’s spent most of her time back home in Kanto, or in Alola with Professor Kukui. She dreams of eventually moving to Alola full time and studying the abundance of water Pokemon there...as well as working on her Mantine surfing on the side. It’d be pretty cool to become a Mantine surfing champ. In the meantime, though, she’s decided to make a stop in Ryme City to help determine what’s causing Pokemon to go rogue.
