I'd not say Freedom is smug because he's a lunatic. Karma...Yeah. Image, though? Not smug. Smart and intelligent, and you haven't met Image. His only weakness is that he likes to talk about relevant things too much, and it's a weakness he was attempting to cut off last I checked it.

In any case, the most recent gain they got was the rest of those Rings that Silveos had the list for, bar the ones we already took out of the case and three that flew out when stolen. But they're not strong enough to justify the smugness, if that's even what's going on and they're not intentionally goading us on into something stupid because we think they're being cocky. They've done that once before.

...Awwwwwww f***. That's probably exactly what's happening. Knowing Image, he's probably got Krathlos under his control-possibly by volition. Who knows?

Well, I figured it out as a possibility via Omniscience. I mean, it's just a guess, but it's a possibility. o3o

And considering you're wearing the Knolwedge Ring, it's a d**m likely possibility. We don't know what happened to him prior to it. Freedom probably obfuscated the location. He's good with that kind of thing.

Anyway. Unfortunately, the Dark Writs planned ahead and put some... anti-omniscience field around them, so I can't track them. :\

There are a lot of those naturally, too, though. Freedom can obfuscate locations like nobody's business, but that's a temporary solution. They're more likely hiding in a naturally occurring Blackout zone...Making it hard to tell WHERE the Dark Writs will be.

In any case, if we see ANY evidence that Krathy's teaming with Image, we shift priorities to the Dark Writs in general.
