Freedom just swats you away with a quickly generated Magic orb, completely distracting him-destroying the stick without any additional effects or energy release in the process. Apparently the stick was generated to DISTRACT Freedom for an attack, not actually attack at all. Of course...You're still very close as it stands, and Freedom is unable to counter with a true spell or anything, and being magic-focused means he won't have much melee.*
