While you appreciate Kannari lending her services and teaching of Forging, you're still not satisfied and want to know more about her. In fact, you want to know EVERYTHING about her. Undecided if she's truly trustworthy or if in fact she could be the enemy, you decide to make her the target of your meticulous investigation.

You do what you do best. Slip into the shadows and become one with them, watching both from afar and from a distance.

Madder's Investigation on 50. Kannari the Rhydon has begun and will conclude at the end of the Day 6: Day Cycle

Now, all you need is time...

IF somebody else comes to take over, THEN

I will instead have a Lesson Interview with Eclipse the Houndour, to teach me how to Escort/Protect. Upon learning the skill, and in order to practice, I will Protect Marisha the Flaaffy.
You seek out Eclipse, and you find him at the Valley Wellness Centre during one of his breaks. Activity at the centre seems quiet tonight, and just your luck, it seems Eclipse is bored. You take the opportunity to introduce yourself and express your interest in learning the ways of Escorting and Protecting.

"Sounds good to me," he smirks, relieved that his cure for boredom came along.

He starts you off with the basics, going into how to get a Pokémon to cooperate and understand your intentions. A lot of it comes down to building trust and assurance. For the Escort component of the teaching, having the Pokémon you need aid from understand what you intend to do with them and how you can't do it alone makes up a great portion of it. You learn that Eclipse has been using this influence for a while, but now that the threat of the Stalkers is weighing down on the civilians here, having them understand that their efforts will lead to lives saved makes it that much easier to accomplish this task.

For the Protect portion of the teaching, Eclipse clues you in that this is quite frankly the easier part of the training and that very few Pokémon would turn down free bodyguard service. But he tells you want to do about Pokémon that are nitpicky about privacy. The more challenging part is the vigilance that is needed to keep that Pokémon safe. When you tell Eclipse this is going to be for protecting Pokémon from Stalkers, he can't even imagine what that would entail if a Pokémon were to be attacked like that, but a lot of it comes down to situational and environmental awareness. To be aware of not just unusual sights, but unusual sounds, smells, and feelings.

Truly the Clauncher has learned Escort/Protect!

"Always happy to help," Eclipse grins. "You sound like you got this down packed, so now's your shot to put what I've told you to good use."

You nod in agreement, heading back out to Salvage Keep to track down Marisha. After some research, you discover her address is in the Rusty Shine Units, unit 16 to be exact. With the middle of the night swiftly approaching, you know you don't have too much time and a Stalker attack could be very imminent.

When you arrive at her rickety apartment door, you knock on it with your pincer, and after a few moments, the door opens and the pink fluffy sheep stands before you in the doorway, blinking twice and looking at you curiously.

"Uh, hey there," she greets you awkwardly as her head tilts to the side, not sure why you've come. "You uh, need something?"

You tell her that it's been recently observed that Stalkers have been striking innocent Pokémon at night, and you want to keep her safe, suspecting she may be a possible target tonight. She looks at you a bit surprised, but shrugs and decided to go along with it.

"For free, no less?" she asks, quite surprised at the proposition. "Well, okay. I mean, I'm just going to be sleeping tonight, but hey, make yourself at home. Well, provided you don't make a mess, right? Yeah, okay."

She then shrugs and then goes back to bed while you enter her apartment and close the door behind you. You see she's actually done a fairly decent job keeping her apartment in working order, though you have the feeling her skills at repair had a part in that.

Nonetheless, you pull up a wooden chair and as Marisha sleeps soundly, you keep a watchful eye and observe carefully in the shadows. Your concentration is on the old door and the single window at all times, and with you vigilant, nothing is going to come in without you knowing about it and intercepting the threat immediately.

    24. Marisha the Flaaffy will be Protected from all threats for the Day 5: Night Cycle.

One last check-in with Vex at the top of Trinket Tower.
Wheezing, he complains "STAIRS! I hate 'em! Should've taken a Flying type form... Y'know, I could morph into a Honchcrow right now! If I wasn't... so... exhausted!"
Bowing, he says with a sly smile, "The darkness purged, the tower checked and cleared by yours truly... Tell Timpani and the other residents they can return." He then walks out and takes in the proper view of the city as he speaks with Vex about new developments in the hunt for their foes, omitting the whole "Oh hey Orin nice of you to turn yourself in" thing. At the end, he starts to walk out, but he stops suddenly as he's walking away, turns to the Deduceye, and takes off his invisible hat, pulling out of it one of the two necklaces he made only hours ago. In the moonlight, the gemstone glistens brightly, as the stone did in sun. "I'm not commonly the kind to be so sentimental, but... When I first laid eyes on you, I knew I wished to be by your side. Please, take this. It holds no commitment for either of us, but... goodness, I'm tongue tied." He stood with the necklace in his hand, looking slightly embarrassed.

TL;DR: the top bold part, then a whole bunch of flavor text. I hereby claim Vex as the next season's player character for me.

You head out in the nighttime darkness, finding the gruff Luxio standing guard at the Mercenary Guild. Despite the Stalkers being an ongoing danger to the community, he still needs to be vigilant for anything else that might be a threat to Salvage Keep.

You then greet him with your Adrenaline Orb, offering it to him as per his request.

[Adrenaline Orb] was removed from Carly's Inventory.

"Ah, you got one," he remarks, his face betraying a hint of anticipation, eyes locked onto the orb you give to him. "This is excellent. I was completely out of these, but this will keep me going until I get some more."

He then yanks off a yellow key he had strung around his neck, behind his black lion-like mane, and then offers it to you, showing an appreciative smile.

"Please, take this," he tells you, offering the key. "It's the key that will unlock one of the strongboxes in the barracks of the Mercenary Guild. Look for it by the yellow marking and take whatever you need for the road ahead. You've done me a big favor."

[Yellow Key] was added to the Team Inventory.

SIDE MISSION COMPLETED: Adrenaline Gives Me Wings

You then head back to base with the key in hand, wishing Typhen a good night on his watch.

"So they sent you," he mutters, brooding a bit. "Well, that's just fine. I take it you'd like to go back to that collapsed house? Might as well, I doubt anyone would complain."

You decide to go through with it, taking Orin to the Collapsed House and restraining him there, binding his butterfly body in accordance to his instructions. You strap him into the bindings and restraints tightly, making it impossible for him to budge at all. You do a check and confirm he can't move his tiny hands, his feet, and his large wings are completely strapped down as well.

#4 Orin the Vivillon has been Restrained until Day 6: Day

"There you go, well done," he tells you in kind of a cynical undertone.

In the meantime, you keep a firm watch on him throughout the night.

Using your newfound Scavenging skills, you head down to the southwestern Tunnel Ruins to see what you might be able to dig up. Thanks for your new knowledge, you have a better idea of what kinds of signs to search for and what areas might have the most opportunity as opposed to areas that never had anything at all or were already picked clean. As you find, quite a few areas here have yet to be discovered and mapped out, or at least were forgotten about quite a long time ago. You figure those are the best places to start with as you search and keep an eye open for anything that might be of value.
