Name: Isaak Kämpfer
Age: 21
Side: Neutral, currently allied with Cipher
Rank: Covert Ops Specialist for Hire
Gender: Male
Appearance: A tall, skinny male, standing at 6'5" (196 cm) and weighing in at a mere 190 lbs. (86 kg), Isaak tends to tower over most people he comes across when standing at full height, which he almsot always does when standing. His brown hair is kept commando-standard short, his green eyes usually slightly unfocused when he's not on the job. His face isn't clean shaven, keeping a 3-Day beard, half out of not caring, half out of comfort. His skin is tanned with experience, with scars collecting around his shoulders, wrists, and chest from using his power.
His combat dress is what he lives in. Simple tight black uniform, black cargo pants to keep some equipment in, but nothing too extravagant, as he can jury-rig tools with his powers. He cut out holes by his shoulder blades and cut the sleeves on his jacket a little short for when he needs to grow some weapons on short notice. He has a small silver locket which he keeps under his clothing, a small token from his dead wife. When not on mission, he's usually seen with a first aid kit with his painkillers, and on mission he keeps several bottles in his pants pockets for quick access.
Personality: Mentally unstable, due to the pain caused by using his combat powers. Talking to him outside of operations usually gets a backhanded, ironic comment in return, or a cryptic remark which rarely applies to the situation. He has as single track mind for getting the job done, and has enough operational experience to not get easily distracted or sidetracked. He just ... doesn't have a lot when it comes to free time. Very happy to shoot first, ask questions never when it comes to obstacles in his path. He doesn't really have any sense of morality except for problems pertaining to his own survival. Sadistic and cruel in combat, he's not afraid to cheat to get higher ground, and will often try to break his enemies in any way he can to keep them from getting up. He doesn't have much opinion of working in a team, often forcing partners/teammates to keep up with his own speed if they don't want to get left behind. He prefers to be alone. He's heavily addicted to painkillers, and will often take these as his sole form of payment. Want to get on his good side? Get him a bottle of Aspirin. He'll appreciate it, and he might show it by protecting his new source, but he won't really acknowledge it. His current situation with Cipher is a contractual one. He does what they ask, and he gets painkillers to keep him from killing himself. He doesn't really see either side of the conflict winning anytime soon, and doesn't have any sense of loyalty "to the cause". Whenever he's not running an op, he can usually be found in a quiet dark corner, mumbling to himself, usually broken fragments about his former family. It's best if you just keep walking.
His pokémon aren't really the ones to do his fighting for him, except for Rowan. He only has them around to for what they can do for him on operations; Stux is his hacker, Wes is his infiltrator, and Rowan helps in close-quarters fighting, but usually only long enough to incapacitate guards. He'll protect all his pokémon dearly however, having had them for most of the time he can still remember. If a battle situation comes up, he'll armor up and go toe-to-toe with almost any pokémon himself. If need be, he'll change the rules of engagement and have Stux bring in fire support and Rowan in melee.
History: Isaak had always been in trouble, as long as he could remember. Growing up in a place like Pyrite Town after its mining glory days did that. If you were born there, you usually fell into the "rabble" the incompetent police were, unsuccessfully, chasing after. Having been born and raised in this sad, dusty place, he quickly fell into the wrong kinds of crowds. Having dropped out of school to help a smuggling group which was paying considerably more than sitting in a school desk. At the ripe age of 17 he got involved in crime with this group, quickly earning a reputation as a runner, but rising in infamy and skill. Eventually he settled down in one of the seedier areas of Pyrite Town with Meghan, a girlfriend he met who was also in "the business". He was certainly doing well for himself, 20 with a good stake in the crime world as a free agent, taking jobs from industrial espionage, minor sabotage, the occasional assassination, and just raking in the cash and staying out of sight.
Then came the first Cluster, which changed everything. The entire town seemed to go into self-imposed quarantine as people started to sort out their new conditions. It was an economy ripe for chaos, as suddenly everyone trusted nobody. Riots between the new "parahumans" and the "normals" raged for days on end. Fortunately Isaak was smart enough to stay out of sight, not having realized his powers yet. But then one fateful night the fight came to him. Stumbling around a comparatively peaceful night, some parahuman managed to make it into the shoddy apartment where a sleeping Isaak and resting, pregnant Meghan were awakened by the door being kicked in by a confused, raging Brute. The ensuing fight was catastrophic, with Isaak only being able to win the fight by activating his powers. As the bones slid through his skin, breaking off repeatedly in combat, his wife watched in horror, unable to take in the horrific sight, although her husband did manage to defend her. Then she collapsed from the shock of it all.
He carried her personally to the hospital, blood from his open wounds and remnant trickles of his foe covering his arms. He brought her in, fighting off the stares and accusing looks. And then came the questions. Why did he kill her? "I swear I didn't." You're covered in blood, and you're the only one who could have plausibly done anything. "Check my apartment, there'll be a body..." The story spiraled out of control, and ended with him being arrested for alleged homicide and assault. Meghan died in the hospital, though he was cleared later.
His descent into madness was short, a raging self-imposed exile as he left Pyrite Town, walking through the desert until he collapsed, almost three quarters of the way to Phenac City. Picked up by a supply train heading back from a run between the Outskirt Stand and the city, he was nursed back to health in a hospital before disappearing. He was thoroughly broken, and couldn't find any purpose. However, life went on, as he trekked towards the Under, starting to get desperate for anything to ease the pain of his new-found powers. He started back up as a freelancer in the underground operations, eventually finding himself noticed and recruited by the Cipher organization. Refusing anything that would give him an inactive role on the field, he keeps out of sight of the higher decisions, only appearing for briefing and debriefing, tolerating others around him only to keep his supply of painkillers.
Pokemon:
Stux - Porygon Z
Rowan - Gallade
Wes - Kecleon
Powers:
Stranger - 5
He usually prefers to use little tricks to distract people for infiltration purposes, throwing his voice as a distraction, hiding among the crowd to get through dense areas, even being able to slightly change his appearance to mimic those he's seen before.
Changer - 8
He has extensive control over his own skeleton. He is capable of growing his own weapons as needed, changing their density to make them heavier or lighter, even able to grow small areas of armor as needed. If he can, he'll avoid using this too frequently, as the resulting wounds are painful, though he never seems to run out of bone to work with. Because of this, he's heavily addicted to painkillers, and it contributes to his loosening grip on reality.
Striker - 3
He has two abilities which he'll use, both of which require physical contact.
Neural Feedback - Temporarily reverses the polarity of the target's neurons. The longer contact is held increases the areas of the body which is effected, ultimately to full shutdown of the target's motor neurons, incapacitating but never killing the target after 5 minutes.
Sound of Madness - Upon contact, a flood of Isaak's damaged memories run through the target's brain, hopefully confusing and temporarily stunning them, allowing for an escape or a devastating counterattack. However, focused enemies tend to show resistance to this, as well as practiced telepaths.
