You decide to use this morning’s time to investigate the Enrictinite Power Plant, knowing bringing this plant back online and restoring power to all of Exacta city is one of Aurorawatch’s big priorities. You’re not sure if you’ll be able to help with that regard, but you decide it’s definitely worth it to see if there’s something you can find that was previously missed by the others.
Thankfully, the weather today is more cooperative and you find you don’t even need your new shawl and sandstorm goggles. As you venture out you remind yourself to be on the lookout, keeping a watchful eye over everything as you pass into the Northern Reach. The streets are still quiet and dusty as the days before, but thankfully, you have gotten better at making your way through them and picking out the best sources of cover. You manage to slip by one Nuzleaf ghoul that looks decayed and withered to the point where it’s a wonder they’re still alive to any degree at all.
Once you reach the circular-shaped power plant, you can tell it’s taken some damage from the earthquakes as there are cracks in the gray stone walls of the structure. Whether or not it means the building can’t be reused is a total guess, as you’re not even sure what Enrictinite is, but it sounds like it’s some kind of otherworldly metal that may only exist in Veramo and doing something to it generates electricity, though you’re not sure what its properties may be.
You start by searching the exterior, noticing that while there is some damage to the walls and windows, it looks like it could be serviceable. Though one big requirement is you feel like the earthquakes would need to be resolved immediately, as the next one or two might push it off the edge and it couldn’t possibly be saved for future use.
By the northern side, you come across a Gossifleur’s remains, and you could even they could have been killed yesterday for all you know. The body doesn’t look like it’s been here for long, although whatever ghouls were here to attack them did a brutal job ripping the yellow and red flowers on their body to ribbons.
You also find they were trying to reach for a Sitrus Berry, only it rolled away from them. You grimace to think… if only they had been a few feet closer, they might have been able to eat it and heal themselves enough to make an escape.
You decide to take the berry for yourself, hoping that while it wasn’t able to save this dead Gossifleur, it may be able to save your life if you need it in a pinch…
[Sitrus Berry] (Restores all Health) was added to Nia’s Pack.
You then decide to search the interior. Inside, the power plant isn’t in terrible shape, but it could definitely be better. The floor is dirty and stray bits of debris are about, and the walls seem pretty dirty with a few cracks here and there, but for the most part, it’s not critical damage. Whether or not Aurorawatch will be able to bring life back to this building is a total guess, though.
After passing by the initial entry foyer area, you then head into the rest of the complex where large vat-like containers are in a 4x3 arrangement and many pipes and wires are darting from one machine and fixture to another, creating an almost spaghetti-like entanglement of tubes and wires. Meanwhile, other large metal machines with all kinds of buttons, readouts, display screens, and levers are out and about. They don’t seem to be in bad shape, though you’re not sure if they’re good enough to support operations here again or if they’ll need to undergo maintenance work. From the looks of things, you can say they might, though unless the OMEN infected are dealt with and the earthquakes are stopped entirely, it seems doubtful a maintenance operation will be able to be performed safely.
Among the machines, you feel a somewhat familiar presence. It brings a bit of comfort, so you decide to track it down further and eventually you find what looks to be a stone disc, tucked away between two large console machines. You carefully slide it out with your paws, and when you flip it over, you see what seems to be a vast and seemingly endless ocean of stars and galaxies in the disc itself. You find it fascinating and alluring to look at, wondering if you are really looking upon an endless number of stars and planets, wondering if perhaps there is another whole world full of life out there among them. Or maybe there are many?
…Infinity…
You almost jump when you hear the calming whisper in your ear, but it gives you a calming assurance and you almost feel a cleansing feeling of tranquility come over you. It convinces you and makes you certain this disc is not of this world, but what exactly it’s for still remains a mystery. You decide to take it with you and guard it with your life.
[Celestial Configuration INFINITY] was added to the Team Inventory.
You continue searching the rest of the power plant, but don’t find any significant clues regarding if and how something can be done to bring it back online. From your best guess, it’s going to take several teams of repair and engineer specialists to do thorough and uninterrupted work to make it possible. But with things still being dangerous, you have a bad feeling that unless the OMEN infected are dealt with and the earthquakes stop for good, it doesn’t seem like power will be returning back to Exacta City through this power plant. Because of this, they’ll have to continue relying on the electrical substation in the refuge area, or they’ll have to build an entirely new power plant.
You then decide to head back for now, somewhat wishing there was better news you could give to Aurorawatch and that you found exactly what the issue was, but it seems it’s a lot more complicated than that.
After carefully and quietly making your way safety through the Northern Reach and back to the steel mill, you decide to make plans for tonight and what you plan on doing next.
