Shay was born in Blackthorn City, in a family that was highly respected amongst the Dragon’s Den clan as great dragon trainers. Shay was thrust into Pokémon at an early age, soon receiving her first Pokémon age at the age of six. She took care of it like it was a priceless treasure, and in the future it would become that very thing. Her aptitude for Pokémon was noticed quickly within the clan of dragon users. Her egg soon hatched into a golden Charmander, of who would become her best friend in the following years. Shay only had her father as blood family, but had her entire clan that she soon learned extended all over the globe to call a family as well, never mind the Pokémon she was going to befriend. She became fond of training Pokémon and became a skilled battler quickly as time went on. Once she became of legal trainers age, or rather, by her father’s standards, he took her around the world to show her the wonders of nature, despite the odd changes that seemed to be happening with the weather at the time. Shay traveled around the other regions from the age of nine to twelve, gaining a skill for training even the most difficult of Pokémon for even an experienced trainer. Her skill even impressed her father, who soon returned with her back to Blackthorn for her initiation test of Dragon’s Den.
The test lasted over a year of rigorous training with dragons she had captured over her travels with her father, and most importantly, her shiny Charmander, now Charmeleon that would soon be Charizard. Shay lived out in the elements with her Pokémon, shared food, shelter, and learned to work together to a point where her very Pokémon knew her well enough to battle for her with little command. During this time, shay was unaware of what the government was deciding to do with the world, though she had an off feeling about some things. However, when she asked, she was only told to focus on her test. She continued the test, until she was about fourteen years old, when she was called into the elders cabin. Standing there, with her Charmeleon at her side, she was presented with a necklace, one of pewter that had a dragon she wasn’t entirely familiar with at the time, in the shape of an S. As the elders gave her one final questioning, of which she responded honestly, she was given the famous Dragon’s Den Dratini, as rewards for completing her long test, showing great prowess and skill amongst her age group. A small festivity was held within the cave in celebration, even though shay was entirely shy about it the whole way through.
This would be the last day Shay would have of peace and family.
Early the next morning, before the sun rose, Shay was awoken by her father, who seemed exasperated, and flustered, even in his attempts to remain calm. Shay got up, confused and worried about what was going on. She was moved with some of the elders and others of her age group, a total of about six people, moving down one of the caverns with haste and stealth. Shay, with her Charmeleon at her side, heard shouting, and gunfire from far behind them, wondering what was going on and why there was gunfire. Soon they came to a small part of the cave, not easily accessed where a pool of water that lead into a deep, underwater tunnel was found. Shay was told to leave with the waiting Kingdra, along with the other kids without her father or the other elders. Shay had a feeling of what was going to happen, and what her father planned to do. She resisted leaving, but was told that something very wrong was being done by people who were scared and that she must remain hidden from these people and find a way to survive, and live. Shay was confused by these words, but had no time to ask as she was shoved away into the water, being dragged by with a breather in her mouth and Pokeball in hand.
She resurfaced in a pond out in the mountain ridge, south of Blackthorn, where she found a small pack of her belongings along with the others she had escaped with. The only person there, was an unfamiliar woman, ready to move them into an underground home. This is where Shay learned about what was going on in the outside world, in terms of politics, and nature. The young teen then understood what her father had told her, and during her transfer, she vowed to return one day and find the very answer to what was going on and stop it.
Thus began Shay’s life as a Freelancer. She constantly trained her Pokémon, and other Pokémon, using her skills as a dragon tamer to recruit the most powerful of allies into the Freelancers use. She grew away from human sociability and concentrated her focus on Pokémon, as years passed, growing almost cold towards them, despite the fact she knew not all of them were ENDoG followers or supporters. Shay gained a reputation of the Silver Dragonair, most notably for her necklace and origins in Blackthorn, and her commonly used team of dragons. Her signature Pokémon, the very Charmander she spent most of her life with, now her ace card of a Charizard, moving from Freelancer group to Freelancer group, training various Pokémon, preparing for what she thought she knew was to come.
Seven years passed, now twenty-one, Shay spends most of her time in her home, Mt. Silver, one of the untouched places left in Johto by the government, thanks to the native Tyranitar geographically changing some part of the mountain every two weeks or more. A small hub for Freelancer’s with extreme skill, Shay spends most of her time alone there, leaving only every so often for rebellion work. Soon enough, the nightmares started coming to her, one of a legendary Pokémon she had longed to meet in person; Giratina. There were of its anguish and pain, attempting to repair the world through its own. The nightmares grew more and more strong, almost coming every night, giving Shay the idea she knew that something had to be done and she would have to go above and beyond what she initially thought of doing to rebel against the very people killing the natural world.
Knowing they were now coming on a regular basis, Shay knew it meant something, and when something within the Freelancer community was compromised, that’s when she knew it was time to get things done with her own hands. Moving as a solo entity, one that doesn’t exist thanks to her father’s previous work of erasing everything that gave her identity to keep her safe, she roams in search of not only the truth behind her nightmares, but the location of her father.
