I missed a topic! I love Renaissance fairs!
I had the time of my life a few years ago when I went to a weekend long camping event and there was a war and dancing and a tavern and campfire bardic times, merchants, workshops, swimming in the river and having big theatrical courts with the king and queen and stuff!
I know there are huge wars in the US, called like, Pennsic or something? But I guess it's more historical reenactment rather than like fantasy with fairies n stuff? I'm not totally sure.

Ah, it's getting colder here and I'm so happy to sleep long hours in my big fluffy pjamas wheeee~
    Summer sucks, my condolences.

For the Renaissance Faire in New York, it's a blend of the more authentic Renaissance stuff on one side, but there's also the fantasy side of things where you're more than welcome to do some Live Action Role Play (encouraged, even). There's a whole faerie forest with an activity thing for kids in there. But yeah, in addition to all the other stuff I mentioned, they have theme weeks, costume contests (I won one year!), special events, and lots of other fun things. So glad they're bringing it back this year.

Also, I miss the cold. I can't wear my Pokemon kigurumis (onesie pajamas) if it's hot out and we've hit that point where I can't wear them for longer than an hour without sweating (and I had JUST gotten three new ones, too). Now we've got bugs, allergies, heat, sweat, sunburns, lawnmower noise, and all that fun jazz to contend with. Hey, November, anytime you're ready...
