Crossroads Comics #177 – Pokémon Bracket Fusion Project

It’s Tuesday which means it’s time for Crossroads Comics!
This week we’re taking a look at the Pokémon Bracket Fusion Project by PTGigi. This isn’t really a comic, but I wanted to spotlight it anyway because it’s a super cool project that PTGigi has been working for quite some time! The Pokémon Bracket Fusion Project is a series of fusions determined by an algorithm that pairs Pokémon with their “best matches”. It determines this on a comparison between the Pokemons’: body type, color, stages/forms, and elemental types. To quote PTGigi‘s explanation further, “With those calculated, it pairs Pokemon who’s best matches are one another. Those paired are removed as best matches from those remaining, who move onto their second best choice. This continues until all Pokemon have been paired for that round/generation. If there’s one left without a pair, it gets a bye to the next round/generation of fusions.” This results in some unique and very interesting fusion combinations as this also factors in alternate forms, megas, and more!

As of right now, the first generation of fusions is complete. For the first generation, it was rather simple, just fusions between two lines of Pokémon. PTGigi also released some very interesting stats related to the first generation once it was completed which you can read here. These stats include the best overall match, the worst overall matches, and which Pokémon wasn’t paired off, as there’s an odd number of participants. What Pokémon got those superlatives? You’ll just have to see yourself.

With Generation 1 done, PTGigi has begun Generation 2. What does Generation 2 entail, you ask? Well, it’s fusions of the fusions! The fusions from Generation 1 were all paired off again to make four way fusions this time. It’s super cool especially since for many of the designs you can see the influences from all the participating species! It’s super cool and I highly recommend checking it out since it takes a high level of creativity to come up with a project like this!

As of right now, Generation 2 is only just getting started and it’s really easy to binge through the galleries and find your favorite mons. My personal favorite design of Generation 1 is probably either Mawgearna or Booling/Sawgeist, or Minski/Gomin. For Generation 2, my favorite is absolutelyPluffable. It looks so huggable! So if you’re into cool designs, be sure to check the Pokémon Bracket Fusion Project out! You can find it on PTGigi’s Website and ComicFury.
And without further ado, lets check out the rest of this week’s line up!
