<SIGNUPS + DISCUSSION>

AUGUST 1ST, 20XX. Valloux Island.

The summer sun shone down on vibrant coral reefs, towering cliff faces and the azure blue ocean in general. Around 100 Performers and Coordinators were gathering to spend the summer competing in the Ultimate Showscapes Tournament with well over 10,000 spectators arriving as well. This particular year was the debut of the tournament, and the two hosts were beyond ecstatic with the turnout despite knowing well it was thanks to Ria's heritage allowing permission to obtain and shape Valloux Island into what was seen today and Tzara's overall popularity doing the advertisements wonders.

Regardless if they were male, female or another orientation, these Performers and Coordinators had a mixed skill level but were all eager to try anyways. Many of these competitors got along great even with mixed levels of skill being on the table, although some rivalries were already forming between spectator and competitor alike. It was fortunate the island's beach was large enough to hold the friendly spar between a Sensu Form Oricorio and Kantonian Ninetales, as well as many other test battles so everyone could see if they were up to date with their abilities.

Those who weren't testing their abilities were going on Gogoat and Mudsdale tours around the island to get a grip of the landscape and island's layout in general as well as testing a variety of practical effects in certain locations such as Layvine's artificial pollen blasts and Hustlestep's glitter tornadoes. Although Layvine did sustain minor damage after a rambunctious Noibat had attempted to clear the 'pollen' away with a particularly violent Air Cutter. But everything continued as normal, though (with the bat Pokémon only receiving a mild scolding from his Trainer).

But in time, everybody had arrived on Valloux and was starting to settle in, all abuzz and excited for the opening ceremony set to begin that night.

One such competitor was a moderately young female known as Ivory Cashen. She had been drawn to the tournament like a moth to a flame, and turned out to be 88th on the list of competitors. Although everyone was excited to be here regardless, Ivory couldn't help but feel bad for those who didn't make it into the main contestant roster. But for now, she was just quietly reading one of her Twisted Sin novels in a plaza just outside the Tide Shard Hotel with her trusted Snivy by her side.

"...and then the Weavile leapt at its same species brethren as the latter's form suddenly warped and decayed... Gosh, no matter how many times I read it, it always sends a shiver down my spine."

"Vaii. (Same here.)"

Ivory smiled at the comment by her partner before being startled by some crashing coming not too far from her. A Lopunny was hopping away from a Magical Leaf with a Chikorita in tow who was whipping the leaves at a playful pace. A dark skinned Trainer had ran by and apologised for the noise, before chasing what looked to be his two partners and telling 'Dippy' to keep the good work up. While Ivory was rather touched by the training, it didn't take long for her to notice Fern had hidden behind her shoulder. This caused the female to sigh softly and pat the grass snake's head, before returning to her novel. 'Kitchen Apocalypse' was always one of her favourite chapters in the series, right behind 'Agent of Utopia' from the same book and 'Death's Nursery' from the firth book.

(And that's where you guys come in! Have fun and do whatever, but stick to the rules! Plus, apologies if this is too short. I think it should be okay though from what I've written for Utopia Unbound.)
