DMV is yank equivalent of Vicroads Xanthe. And you could go on jobseeker pension like me? you just need to show you are trying to get a job.
Um, no. That's not how it works. A Yank or Yankee is a derogatory term that people BELOW the Mason-Dixon Line call people who live ABOVE said line. If anything I'm a Confederate. Get your derogatory terms straight and learn your geography.
@Comatose Um yeah, Jacob. xD Didn't you know that? I never call Americans yanks. Maybe you do because you're a bogan. ;D Also a wog! Isn't that a derogatory term?! They could call us convicts under the same principle! STOP DOOMING US PLS. And I would go on Job Seekers, but I don't want to apply anywhere and end up with a job I hate as much as Tony Abbott.
@Noblejanobii XD Lol. Well I'm glad you don't need that side effect. If you did then I'd be concerned.
Ahaha I can see it now! The image is so miniscule that I can't make out anything else though. xD And oohh, yeah, we have that equivalent here. xD Pain in the buttocks.
No no. Still wrong. See, besides you guys I do have other friends in Australia on other sites and they've never made the mistake of calling me a Yank. No I usually get called Red Neck or something and then when I reveal I'm in the state that started the Civil War I usually get called Confederate. Never Yank. Yank is for people who wanted the Union to stay together.
I think we should be concerned if anyone needed that side effect.
I'll send you a link to my DA page. You can see it on my ID better. Yes, so you see the problem now?
I came in like a wrecking ball...
Right. People on websites. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thnk the fact that, I dunno, I live in Australia, with the other 23 million Australians makes me slightly more educated in the slang we use and what it refers to than yourself. So no, here, yank has nothing to do with which state you live in. It just refers to anything American. Case closed. Not sure how other countries interpret it, but the way it is used here, and the way I use it are like that.
And Xanthe, that depends on the person. I can honestly say I know no Europeans who would take offence to that if used in a banterish manner, just like I wouldn't take offence to being called a yobo or a bogan. They were it like a badge of pride. And I have turned down two crap jobs in jobseekers
Yeah I agree with Jacob, "yank" is a common term for "American" over here. It's not an insult or anything. Also being half a wog, I call people wogs all the time haha. It used to be derogatory but then the Europeans kind of claimed it and it's not derogatory anymore. Obviously Xanthe is too sophisticated for us. xD
