Janobii. No one was actually calling you a yank. ._. All Jacob was doing was explaining that it's not a derogatory term in HIS culture. As for our culture, though? Yes, it is viewed as derogatory to us. But there's a lot of words like that...such as the "c" word that everyone in the states gets SO offended by for some reason. Seriously I never understood that

AAnyway, said word doesn't really mean anything bad to people in some countries. Its just like a typical word.

But anyway, yeah...just wanted to throw in my two cents.
