Stop the presses!
It is Pokemon Podcast Month and we got some exclusive content from your favorite Pokemon podcasters! From GO, TCG, talk, to tabletop and beyond! We have sent out the classic Podcasters Questionnaire to see what your favorite Pokemon podcasters have to say about podcasting!
And today we have….Steven from Poke Press Digest Podcast to talk about podcasting and everything in between!
So what does the Poke Press Digest Podcast have to say about…
What type of podcast do you have? Why do you make the type of podcast that you make? What drew you to the Pokemon franchise?
Steven: Our show covers several different areas of the franchise (games, animation, etc.), primarily from a musical perspective. It was more or less what I was interested in, and I felt it wasn’t getting enough coverage.
What inspired you to podcast?
Steven: It seemed like an interesting and well-made game.
What keeps you going when it comes to podcasting and Pokemon?
Steven: I had been doing digital audio work since the turn of the century, and field interviews since the early 2000’s. After my internet radio station shut down, I decided I needed another avenue to get out my interviews and other content.
What kind of feeling do you wish your listeners to have when listening to your podcast?
Steven: Every person I interview and every discussion I hold teaches me something.
What is the hardest part when it comes to podcasting?
Steven: I hope they feel informed and get a more detailed perspective of the franchise.
What has been the best Podcast moment you have had?
Steven: Editing. The more you’ve done it, the more picky you get, so even as you get better, it never really gets easier.
If you can suggest an episode of your podcast to a new listener, which episode would it be? Why?
Steven: That’s really hard to say. We do a lot of pre-planning, so there tend to not be a lot of “surprise” moments, if that’s what you’re looking for. The quizzes I’ve been doing lately with my co-host have been very interesting, in part because I try to pick things that will lead to a discussion.
I always enjoy any episode I get to listen to PokePress. So hearing this really does feel great that they put a lot of work into what they make.
Steven: I just recently posted the episode for our music discussion of Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity. It has a bit of a mixed reception, so we actually ended up talking a lot about it as a game as well, and how it may have “predicted” the future of online discourse.
Thank you for Steven from Poke Press Digest Podcast for answering our questions. We hope that you give Poke Press Digest Podcast a listen if you haven’t already. If you are a listener then let us know!
Signing off! Until next time!
