And make it double!
The prereleases for Destined Rivals will start this weekend! From Saturday, May 17th to Sunday, May 26th!
Destined Rivals will be the second set featuring Trainer Pokemon. Though, expect to see a Team Rocket invasion! Plenty of Team Rocket cards and their Pokemon will be making their way into the Pokemon TCG. Some of them to keep an eye on is Team Rocket’s Mewtwo ex. Still, there are heroes to keep an eye out for such as Cynthia’s Garchomp.
Prerelease Promos

If you want to get your hands early on some cards from Destined Rivals then this weekend is the time! Prereleases for Destined Rivals will happen this weekend. You will get a Build & Battle kit that will contain a full 40 card premade deck and one special promo card! Along with some Destined Rivals booster packs. This special promo card will certainly be useful as you power up your deck for a new meta featuring Destined Rivals!
Below are the Pokemon cards that will be featured as Prerelease Promos.
Team Rocket’s Tyranitar
Do you hear that in the distance? That is a sandstorm! Coming from Team Rocket’s Tyranitar! This Pokemon has the Sand Stream ability that puts two damage counters on each of your opponent’s Pokemon during the Pokemon Checkup when it is in the active. This ability will be perfect as you slowly chip away at your opponent’s Pokemon HP.
Ethan’s Typhlosion
Time for a pair of buddies to come out to battle! And you can expect Ethan’s Typhlosion to fire some powerful attack’s! Especially with it’s Buddy Blast. This attack does 40 damage plus 60 more for each of Ethan’s Adventure that is in your Discard. It looks as if all that adventuring made Ethan’s Typhlosion even stronger!
Misty’s Gyarados
When you see Misty’s Gyarados then you better panic! That is because Splashing Panic is going to cause some havoc! This attack does 70 times the number of Misty’s Pokemon you discard when you look at the top seven cards of your deck. This could cause some big damage if your deck is drowning with Misty’s Pokemon.
Team Rocket’s Mimikyu
If there were any Tera Pokemon in Destined Rivals then Team Rocket’s Mimikyu would be doing some great work! After all, Gemstone Mimicry allows you to copy your opponent’s active Tera Pokemon’s attack.
Though, there are no Tera Pokemon in Destined Rivals. So the best you can do with it is use it as free retreat when you use Team Rocket’s Giovanni to swap one of your opponent’s Pokemon from the Bench to the Active.
Final Thoughts

Destined Rivals will make players excited as Team Rocket comes into the TCG. That means you can make plenty of new friends to fight against each other. Prereleases for Destined Rivals will run from Saturday, May 17th to Sunday, May 26th. You will see Destined Rivals in all stores starting on May 30th.
If you want to play competitive with cards from Journey Together then that they will be tournament legal on June 13th. Just in time for the Pokemon North American International Championships! Or any Mid Year Celebration Tournaments at your local Leagues.
Best of luck in your pulls!
