Cheers and good times!
Axel Silverfield
Phoenix Battalion
Castelia City, Unova
Affected RPers: None
Standing on a rooftop, looking past the noonday arcane sun, the leader of the Phoenix Battalion gazed upon the city below. Things had changed rapidly during the past few days, but to Axel, as long as there was still a world that had its heart beating, there was still something alive that could be made whole again, if not better than before. And those were the kinds of things worth fighting for.
To Axel, it was all about picking up the pieces and starting over. Deep inside, the loss of his brother burned, but the force within him kept it suppressed. He knew Desh was gone, but he knew his own brother would not want to see him dragged down. There were some that died inside before they truly faced death, and to Axel, that was no way to ever live.
In his heart, he knew the Night of Bloodfall would have to be undone, but it wouldn't be done in a day. It might take years, and there were always naysayers that would believe things could never be brought back to normal. But he was determined to try and find a way, looking past the Mechari riots, the political upheaval, and the escalating chaos. As long as blood was still in his veins and air was still in his lungs, there was always a chance, and there was always the possibility he could do something about it.
As he ran his hand and his fingers lightly through his long, silver-colored hair, he tried to clear his head and gather his thoughts. As the hidden leader of Second Chance, he had merged much of the rescue group into his new faction called the Phoenix Battalion, determined to be a source of hope and renewal in a desperate time. As he started with them, he took it further, trying to spread the word of the faction and the dream as far as he could take it. He also wanted to resurrect the High Magi Council and start it up once again. To him, the Repressors had to realize their mission was in fact a failure, and the massacre they had instigated would never be a permanent solution to whatever anarchy they were trying to instill.
And then there was Team Trainer. Axel simply didn't trust Team Trainer, nor did he acknowledge the Decree of the Celestial Circle, which the High Magi Council had limited connection with and likely never even knew about the Decree itself. He had his own way of doing things, and that was through action. And sometimes, when there was a call to action, rules had to be bent, sometimes broken. Laws and ordinances would only slow things down, and that would cost lives. It was not the way Axel wanted to live either. He wanted to be wild and free, and not let some other bureaucrat tell him to settle down and do things their way.
"Up here for a breath of fresh air?" Roland the beige-furred wombat-like Chua asked the silver-haired angel. "Well hey, sure is a nice view."
"You bet," Axel smiled, nodding at the Chua dressed in a brown leather jacket and blue jeans. "Say, Roland, what's your take on these Team Trainer peeps? This may sound crazy, but I didn't know a thing about these guys before Bloodfall."
"Trainer, huh?" Roland nodded in his acknowledgement, looking off to the side shortly after. "Well, you've got some who think the Decree is a forgery, others like me who think the Celestial Circle never intended for Trainer to own the entire world, and then some really crazy conspiracy theorists who believe Trainer might have been behind Bloodfall."
That opened Axel's eyes a bit, thinking it was a bit shocking there were some people out there that actually believed that, but then again, it wouldn't be the most far-fetched thing he ever heard. They would certainly have motive, but there didn't seem to be a trace of evil within Team Trainer's agenda. However, much about the situation and the direction it was going in was a complete mystery.
"Well, whatever their story is, I don't like to think of us as agents of Team Trainer," Axel told Roland, turning to face him. "The whole law-abiding, model citizen and formality stuff just isn't my thing. You've got to go with your guts, your instincts, and your morals. Laws and regulations just don't understand that."
"Oh, I hear ya," Roland nodded. "Thing is, how do you plan on facing Team Trainer, the so-called heirs of the world now? Trying to establish the High Magi Council is going to be seen as a separatist movement, if not flat-out treason. Team Trainer might not like the idea of someone going up against their idea of uniting the world under one banner."
"They're going to need to get used to it," Axel told him firmly, but with a confident smirk.
"One way or another..."
