Do you have a bank account?
Do you have a bank account?
I've had a savings account in my name for as long as I can remember and in two months I'll be able to get to the money in it. Recently I got a checking account though for my in case of emergencies/when my parents can't give me money for a trip debit card.
Yep, savings, checking, and a Roth IRA.
I don't actually need the savings one and could probably close it up, but eh, it's not doing me any harm. Sure, the interest gained on it is pitifully next to nothing, but until interest rates go back up and dropping money in a CD is worth it, I'm kind of just leaving it there. In the meantime, I haven't had a CD since 2008. :P
When it comes to investing in stocks or bonds, I'll admit, I'm a chicken. That stuff requires a lot of research and even after all that work, it's no guarantee the money you invest in stocks isn't going to be swiped away because the company made a whole bunch of bumbling mistakes or blew their reputation away doing something stupid that was beyond your control. Given, it's a better choice than casino gambling (which I never do anyway), but you're basically letting the company play with your money in the hopes that they know what they're doing with it and will see some return on that. And to me, I just haven't seen too many companies where I feel that confident enough to do that. It's a leap of faith with a lot of these companies and you've got to have a lot of knowledge about the company itself and what the industry's arena is like.
Checking & savings in one bank, savings in another (which my dad set up for me way back when), and I guess an IRA? (I have money invested in stocks.)
With the exception of the money I have invested in stocks, I don't have as much in any of my accounts. The highest I had was 4k in my secondary savings account, but I used all that in order to go on my study abroad and study away trips these past two Januarys. I know I had about 1k since I last checked my stocks, but I lost my sign-in info. and need to go to one of the offices in order to reacquire it.
I have an account. I mean, there is nothing in it (currently looking for a part-time job), but it exists.
I also have a different account that only my parents can access, but there is actually money in that one for university.
