Pokemon Red – The Game that Started it All – Episode 1

Hey everyone, Kaoru here. As a tribute to #Pokemon20 and Pokemon Red/Green being released 20 years ago and on February 27th, 1996, I thought I would play through Pokemon Red and post it on our YouTube channel. This play through is not a “Catch ’em All” run. I’m only catching what I need to finish the game but I may go back and catch all that I can catch on one game cartridge once this play through is completed.

I have a upload schedule planned for this series. Every Monday and Wednesday, provided nothing is wrong with me or my recordings, I will upload a new episode and post another article on what happened.

Here’s a quick recap of what went down in this episode. We meet Red, an aspiring Trainer whom gets asked by Professor Oak to complete the Pokedex. With Zippy, his brand new Charmander, in hand, they set off on an adventure in Kanto region. He has some trouble encountering his next team member, Caterpie. (Seriously, why is Caterpie so hard to find in Pokemon Red!?) Red also faces off against his rival, Blue, and fights his first regular trainer, a Bug Catcher in Viridian Forest. The nicknames of my Pokemon are references to PokeTubers that I watched back in the day.
