    Dark Souls

Has anyone else here ever played a Dark Souls game? Did you find them as hard as they are made out to be? Are you as hyped for Dark Souls 3 as I am?

I have not actually played a Dark Souls game, but I've heard they're good, and been interested in them for a while.

What do you think, should I play 'em? c:

I would highly recommend them to anyone who likes fantasy RPG type games, and who wants a challenge. But I would recommend Dark Souls Two first over Dark Souls One. Dark Souls One is horrifically optimized and has so many issues. It's still a fun game, and in my opinion totally worth getting if you can get it on sale, but Dark Souls Two, although still having some flaws, is a much more polished game.

Hmm okay then. But if I start from the second game, is there much I would miss from the first? Would I be able to play it without playing the first game?

Haven't played them either. XD My brother did borrow Dark Souls 2 from his friend and I watched him play some. From what I've heard from close friends, yeah, it's as hard as they make it out to be. xD

There are some vague references to Dark Souls One, and the main antagonist came to be as a byproduct of something that happens in the first game, but really, you wouldn't be missing out on anything starting with the second game. The way the story is in Dark Souls, things aren't really explained to you, you kinda have to talk to all the NPCs and read item descriptions and use the information you get to put the pieces together.

A warning though if you plan on getting it, it can also be confusing what you are supposed to do if you don't have someone to tell you what areas you are supposed to go to first and what some things do. And there are a few parts/areas/enemies that aren't just hard, they are unfair. Like I said, as fun of a game as I think it is (When you aren't ripping your hair out with frustration at how hard it can be), it has its flaws.

Whee, Dark Souls. I've played Demon's Souls and Dark Souls.

Really enjoyed Demon's Souls. And Dark Souls is nice, but it pissed me off a lot. It was trying so hard to kill me that some parts stopped being fun. (Damn archers on the roofs of Anor Londo!) But I still liked it. They aren't too difficulty--just initially punishing. If you can learn to dodge it's fine. I'm not a terribly great gamer (but a persistent one), but I did manage to platinum both.

I have Dark Souls II, but I just can't get into it. I played Bloodborne before it, so when I got to it, it felt like I was moving and performing actions at a turtle's pace. Just couldn't take it.

Speaking of Bloodborne, though. Love that game so much!
