Thread: Dream Job!

  1. #11
    A translator making a decent wage and being able to live off of it. My cousin graduated with a translating degree but iirc she moved back to Russia and works as a teacher now so that.. doesn't really get my hopes up. I'm already bilingual so I want to make an effort to be more proficient at a third language so I become more marketable! Already have experience with French and might start there. B]

    Designing / illustrating / creating anime, manga or games for Nintendo, Sega or some other awesome company. UNGH, YES. I have very large goals. xD;;

    If I wanted money I'd just drop my job right now and become a tradie. Amazing how much money you get for sitting around all day and doing nothing.

    I still don't know. Every time I think I know, I don't know anymore. xD The problem is, everything I want to do is creative and definitely not a guaranteed money maker. And unfortunately, human life revolves around making money.

    For a while I've been wanting to become a voice actor. I love it, and it's great. But then I studied game design and thought I wanted to go into games, and do game design and development. Then I thought I should study creative and professional writing, so I went into that, and I thought I could become a narrative designer, script-writer, or even copywriter. I want to publish a novel series eventually, so studying writing and getting a chance to show it off might help with that! But now... I sort of want to go into acting again. But instead of just voice acting, screen acting, too. Problem is, there aren't many jobs available in Australia and even if I move, there are thousands of other people (probably way more talented than me) out there doing the same. Sooooo I'm stuck for what to do. In the mud. Just stuck. xc

    I have jumped around so many times in what I want to do too. When I was younger I was sure I wanted to do something art related. I think it was sometimes around a couple years ago I stopped being so sure that was what I wanted to do. At some point I came to the realization that I would ultimately be making what other people tell me to make, and I think at that point it really does just become work at that point.

    I had thought about astronomy since I have a huge interest in it (I am a massive astronomy nerd), but that is all physics, and I'm not very good at math. It's not that I dislike math, I'm just bad at it.

    Now I'm looking into Biology. Specifically, microbiology (I can't really say why, it just interests me). This would actually not only be something I think I would like, but it's practical. The pay and job availability are both better than the previous jobs, and I think it would be pretty cool to be doing some kind of work involving research. But this is still likely to change.

    Honestly, I'm starting to feel like there is nothing that I really want to do. I can't say that I have a true "dream job." Until about 6 months ago I really had been kinda clueless, and even now I'm beginning to doubt myself on the whole biology thing.

    As I posted in the "Boatload of dreams" thread, I want to be in a big pop punk band. All Time Low and Mayday Parade are HUGE guilty pleasures of mine.

    But since the music business is a pain to get big in, I'd be cool with a computer engineering job; probably something that combines software and hardware work, like robots.

    I still have some kernel of hope that I'll be able to become a trophy husband and stay-at-home dad to a driven, but generous, wife where my main duties besides raising the children will be writing and hosting extravagant get-togethers with the other trophy spouses in the neighborhood where we will gossip and eat little cakes.

    My ideal career would be a miner or a metallurgist. You know, someone in the mining or manufacturing industry, drilling tunnels or extracting metals. Still working towards that goal~

    and alol at trophy husband above. That's a new phrase!
