My name gets mispronounced a lot. Like A LOT. Most of my friends, even close ones, got it wrong the first time they met. Also it's so difficult to spell and pronounce that my name gets forgotten or mixed up with something bizarre altogether. Like I've been called Jonathan, Nicholas, Drew, Sean/Shaun, and Andrew (or a corrupt fusion of those few names) so many times I can't even begin to count them. That's why I tell people to call me Andy because it's short and catchy and not so foreign-sounding (I get asked "Are you local?" all the time, for reals).

And no, you're not gonna get to know my real name. :P Nice try, PXR. Though I'll leave a hint, the Bard knows.

My real name, both first and last are mispronounced constantly. Dad got into n argument with one of the secretaries over how to say our last name when registering for school.

Because of my own accent, I'm the one who mispronnounces my own name XD other people have spelled out my name as far as Arvin XD (clue: my accent makes it hard for me to pronounce the /h/ sound)

Okay so my name is Bethan. It's pronounced BETH-an with emphasis on the "beth". It's exactly like Bethany but without the y. I always thought that was obvious, but APPARENTLY NOT. These are the occasions that stick out to me:

• I have a lot of people read my name incorrectly and call me Bethany. Okay, that's fine, no worries. I'll just correct you and we'll move on. However, one teacher at school called me Bethany for the entire 7 years she taught me, regardless of how often I corrected her.
• Beth-ANNE, with emphasis on the "an" sound. It sounds weird and disconnected.
• At school, I had a substitute teacher call me Beef-an. This lead to the nickname Beef Man throughout my entire high school career, which people thought was hilarious since I don't eat meat.
• Yet another teacher called me Bay-than, so my friend started calling me Baethan from that point on (which is actually kinda funny)

At this point, I've given up and tell people to call me Beth. My surname is even worse though. Iley - I've heard ee-lee, ill-ee, uh-lee, il-ay, ee-lay. It's actually eye-lee!

Not even gonna lie, when I first saw your name I had no clue! I met someone called Xanthe a few years ago and she pronounced her name Zanth-uh, so afterwards I thought it was pronounced like that! Obviously her parents had no idea what name they'd given their daughter and told her the wrong thing growing up xD

Maybe I should change my surname to Ilex to celebrate my undying love of the Pokémon franchise
