    Fonts You Can't Stand

Let's start with Papyrus. It's everywhere. Here, here, and even here. (Last one is a bit altered, but yes, it is Papyrus!)

Though I don't hate it because people use it a lot. I hate it because I'm tired of seeing it looking ugly everywhere. This is how I imagine it goes: "Need a font. Times New Roman and Arial look too plain... Oh, I know! Papyrus! It looks fancy enough." But most of the time it looks horrible. And a little lazy. But of course it can still look nice.

And Bleeding Cowboys. It looks cool, yes. But not when you slap it on everything because you think it looks cool. Because a lot of the time it looks really stupid.

And I don't hate dislike this font, but look around your room and I guarantee you'll find at least three examples of Copperplate Gothic.

Someone can go ahead and complain about Comic Sans now. (I don't mind the font, personally.)

    Awesome idea for a thread.

Funny, Papyrus doesn't bother me all that much, as long as it's used well. But I agree that it's been overused for a lot of things and really should be retired.

Beyond that, I am part of the crew that also hates Comic Sans. As a graphic designer, it's just... no. It has no place anywhere. So many other fonts can do a better job and usually when someone uses it, they don't know there's MUCH better comic-style fonts out there, but they just haven't bothered checking. Or they're using it because they think it's a "cute" looking font. It's not. As a result, Comic Sans is neither good for professional use (oh yeah, good luck to you in your life if that's the font you use for your resume), nor is it good for casual use. It's just an all-around horribly uncreative font, and any time I see it used is a red flag that I want nothing to do with what it's talking about.

I also hate Times New Roman. YAWN. I've slugged through using that for writing reports and all it does is remind me of boring times when I had to spend hours doing work. I go out of my way to avoid using it. Instead, I use Calibri for my resume and for professional stuff. Calibri is normal and it does the job it's supposed to do without looking all old and archaic.

The one font that I despise the most is Arial. It's used everywhere in professional documents, but it doesn't have the professional look and feel of Helvetica, which Arial is supposedly a knock-off of (there's so many differences between the two fonts that I can't explain them all, but some of them are obvious if you look closely enough.)
Whenever I use a sans-serif font in certain important documents, I prefer to go with Helvetica, if it's available to me.

I'm also not too crazy about Courier New, as far as monospace fonts go. It's so doggone thin compared to the real Courier as used by typewriters. I prefer Prestige Elite when it comes to typewriter-style monospace fonts, even though that particular font seems to have fallen out of use many years ago. (Both Courier and Prestige were introduced decades ago for use with IBM typewriters.)

I love the Comic Sans font! It's practically the only font that shows small "a" and capital "I" correctly, and quite possibly "g", as you would write them. I dare y'all to name any other font that does that.

Shame on all other so-called professional fonts like Arial etc that looks ugly and unrealistic. Additionally, it is glitchy on word-processing documents.

Same here. I don't mind Arial and Calibri, but Times is just so... bland. It's what happens when you take the flavour and aroma away from vanilla. This is the uncooked tofu of fonts.

Apart from that, when people abuse Comic Sans. It's not bad when used sparingly or for humour, but it looks really amateur when an entire flyer or ad is typed in Comic Sans.

I actually like Papyrus, but it's one of those fonts that's best used in moderation and for effect.

I don't have much of a preference, but Times New Roman is pretty boring.

    Oh, sorry, wrong chat. :3c

Personally, I really like Calibri! I dunno, I just like how clean and bubbly it looks. It's like, an improved version of Arial. Not a big fan of Times New Roman, either. It just...looks too...stiff, I guess? Something about it just irks me. D:

From the moment I saw this thread title I WAS HELLBENT on making an Undertale joke and someone else had the same idea hehe
