I'm About to Blow Your Mind

Recently, at my school and on various places throughout the internet, I have encountered the next version of the ever infamous "what color is the dress?" trend. This time, however, it's on how to solve a math problem.

Now, be careful how you solve this. It may seem simple, but this problem is not as black and white as you may think.

And @Bulbasaur and @Steven_Six you can't respond to this since you already know the answer. But feel free to gloat to people when they get the answer wrong.

    Lessee...
    Spoiler:
    62 / 2 ( 3 ) + 4

By order of operations, parentheses come first, but that's just a 3 there. Nothing is actually happening. Next up is exponents, so 62, and that's 36.

    36 / 2 ( 3 ) + 4

Multiplication and division share the same precedence and precede addition and subtraction, so next up is 36 / 2, which is 18.

    18 ( 3 ) + 4

    And then 18 * 3 is 54.

    54 + 4

    And that's 58.

    That correct?

This reminds me of a video I saw a while ago:

    Spoiler:
The answer you'll get would depend on whether multiplication and division are considered to be separate steps. If you do multiplication before division, you'll get 10: ((62)/(2*3))+4

If you do both multiplication and division in the same step, you'll get 58: (((62)/2)*3)+4

And this is why I don't trust algebra with anything.

Not true! Geometry and statistics were reasonable... for the most part.

Bruh geometry is the opposite of reasonable. You look up unreasonable in the dictionary and you'll see the word geometry as it's definition.

    I don't really feel like solving the problem...I've got a feeling either you or someone else is eventually going to give in and tell us, though. c;
