    Should I Do It?

Wasn't sure where to put this so Mods feel free to move this as necessary.

So it has come to my attention that there are some people who wish for me to restart my PMD comic. With that in mind, I decided to ask the general public their thoughts. Should I restart my old comic?

I've found some of the old scripts and I remember the general idea of the whole story, as well as where it was going. I will be doing some editing and such, of course, but before I took the time to do that, I wanted to see what people thought.

So, here was the general premise of the story. It's based on the Explorers games but it links all the games from BR to GtI. Three sets of humans are all brought to the present time of the Explorers timeline. One is from the Blue and Red rescue team universe, whose events took place about 50 years (subject to change) prior to the setting of the story. One is from the future of the Explorers timeline, where she is not the only human. I can't say much more than that since it would spoil part of the plot, but I did actually invent my own eeveelution for this arc to replace Dusknoir so. The last set comes from the human world where time acts parallel to the Pokemon world's. Due to the fact that these were meant to represent the main protagonists of all my PMD run throughs, I might add in my PSMD character as well, but that's besides the point.

So the story revolves around the plot of PMD with the time gears and stuff, but it won't be the same, I can promise you that. With what all I had planned, there's no way it could be. So what do y'all think?

Also here's the old very cringe-worthy comic: here

first, ask yourself what's wrong with the originals. also remember that if you choose to go back and redo previous pages, you might get stuck in a vicious cycle and never actually get much done. some of the best webcomics i follow ("dash academy" by sorcerushorserus and "the chosen four" by darrow) started out really bad...at least, when it came to the artwork. especially "the chosen four." christ. anyway, in the end it's up to you but if it's something you're still actively workin' on to this day, i'd say it's not worth it. if it's somethin' ya stopped working on a while back ago, though, it can work either way.

Oh, wow! I say if you really want to, do it! There's no reason why you shouldn't. The only problem, which my dear brother said, is remember that you need to put in the effort to make it something extraordinary this time around. Do be sure you don't drop it halfway. Take that into consideration and you're good to go.

Oh dear. The art... is... uh... bad. There's no way to soften that.

I've said time and time again that I suck at drawing. People never seem to believe me though.

This is your warning, it won't be much better. It'll look better than it did, maybe, but most likely you won't see much improvement since I have no way to do digital art beyond using a trackpad, and trust me that is not meant for art.

I have some advice when it comes to that, because these helped me MASSIVELY when it comes to improving my art:

    • Reference pictures are your friend. Sure, you probably know what most Pokémon sort of look like already, but grab a reference picture anyway. Heck, I still grab them even when making Emolga pictures, and you know how many of those I've made. Find a pose of the Pokémon that's most like the pose you're going to use. It's bad to steal art, but using a picture as reference is totally fine.
    • Sketch twice, then do final line art. Your first rough sketch is really just to get the pose positions and the body proportions right. It should mostly be basic shapes as reference to the sizes of things, nothing too crazy. Second sketch should be more refined to get a bearing on the details and to make sure you have a solid framework, and lastly, your final line art is what you're going to ultimately go with. I do all of that stuff in Paint Tool SAI, which rocks by the way.
    • Find tutorials and try using them. I found this "how I do it" guide by @Liokora to be EXTREMELY HELPFUL. And there's a bunch on DeviantArt that are also very helpful and don't require excessive amounts of time and involve tons of complexity.

I'll admit, I haven't tried doing a comic series yet, so I can't say too much about panel layout and the storyboarding process, but I figured those would be helpful at least for the art stuff. Lately I've been able to do artwork that my younger self would have said "WHOA" to. The more you practice and the more you follow guides, the better you'll get.

Thanks for the tips, @Neo Emolga, but seeing as how two users have already expressed their dislike of my art, and even I know it sucks, I'm beginning to wonder if it's worth starting the comic again since I never improve no matter how much I draw.
