    We, the Remnants [SU/DS]

    THE STORY SO FAR...

It's been exactly twenty-four hours since the bomb or whatever catastrophic source had caused this incident in Kanto. All hell broke loose in the form of mutated Pokémon and mass amounts of people and Pokémon dying in the streets, somehow sizzling to death.

You had no choice but to hunker down in Cerulean City and just try to survive.

Almost a day later, only now do you get you finally got the warning to evacuate. Details have been limited, but you have been told that "anyone that can prove they are not infected will be safely evacuated, but you only have two days before the ships leave."

No one mentioned what happens afterword if you miss the boat or if they stop you from boarding, but it can't be any good considering what just happened. Some say the whole area will be forever quarantined while others say the military is going to purge it. No one knows for sure but it doesn't look promising.

You don't know all the details, but this disaster caused some kind of horrible genetic disruption or airborne mutagen to be released or activated. While trying to take shelter in Cerulean City from the chaos and screaming, you've either witnessed or see incidents of regular Pokémon becoming mutated into Ferals. You've seen them become incredibly violent and powerful, often tripling in size. It has also affected humans, turning them into hybrids of human and Pokémon. It has also been witnessed that there are several levels of infection from the lightly infected to the deeply infected.

But there are plenty of humans and Pokémon that didn't survive the initial disaster and couldn't take shelter in time. Many of them are dead as a result of their failed and fatal mutations. Those that survived the initial strike, including you, are still subject to mutations, as if this were an earthquake with aftershocks. Meanwhile, there are plenty dead from Feral attacks and that number is on the rise.

That's all you know for now. You're still in Cerulean City and the only way to go south is by foot with the roads completely locked dead with stalled and crashed cars. It seems keeping holed up in Cerulean City to wait for rescue isn't going to happen now. You've got to get on the move yourself if you hope to escape the infection that has already claimed so many others.

    DIFFICULTY LEVEL

There are three ways you can play out this RP depending on how much immunity you want to have and how difficult you want the RP to feel. This is really for those who might get too attached to their characters to take on the full brunt of what the RP would naturally be dishing out.

FULL IMMUNITY MODE: In this mode, your character and their Pokémon will never be subject to the infection randomizer while the RP will treat it as if your character is simply dodging the infection out of luck and happenstance. For storyline purposes, NPCs and other characters will still treat it as if your character could be infected.

HUMAN TARGET MODE: In this mode, only your human character is subject to infection. Their Pokémon are not. So while your human character may become a gijinka or a morph during the RP's duration, their Pokémon are safe from the affliction that is happening to others around them.

REALISM MODE:The full and emotionally brutal way this RP was meant to be played. In Realism Mode, your character can become fully infected as a Morph and their Pokémon are subject to the slight chance of becoming Ferals. While this 1% chance is low (it's much more common in NPCs), it still exists and it's brutal if it happens. If you remember the movie I Am Legend, think of what happens to the dog. Now imagine that happening to your Pokémon.

    INFECTION DETAILS

First and foremost, going into the skies is suicide. The infection gets worse as the elevation rises.

There are three levels of infection for human characters:

Level 1 - Human - Not infected at all. Could evacuate easily if they arrive at the ship in time.

Which has a 5% chance per post of moving to:

Level 2 - Gijinka - Lightly infected. Has the ears, tails, and other minor features of a Pokémon. Could blend into a crowd if said Pokémon features are hidden, but would not pass inspection at a checkpoint (you would have to sneak your way onto the ship).

Which has a 3% chance per post of moving to:

Level 3 - Morph - Deeply infected. Looks more like an anthropomorphic Pokémon and has no chance of blending into a crowd at all.

When you make your sign up, you choose what Pokémon your character will start to become more like if they become infected (not necessary if you pick Full Immunity mode). Each post, you have a randomized chance of catching infection and moving up in form (Human >5%> Gijinka >3%> Morph). If you become infected, your next post should detail the mutation. If you become infected, you can use Pokémon moves and attacks, and the more infected you become, the stronger these attacks become.

Very contrary to popular belief, this mutation does not affect mental capacity, only physical form. However, considering the presence of the Ferals, there are many who believe Gijinkas and Morphs are at risk of going violent and berserk. This is also why they're not being evacuated. Some also believe chances of infection are higher around those that have already been infected, but this isn't true.

Meanwhile, there are three levels of infection for Pokémon (wild and companion)

Level 1 - Normal - The Pokémon is behaving as normal.

Which has a 3% chance per post, per Pokémon of moving to:

Level 2 - Feverish - The Pokémon is becoming very agitated and overly-impulsive. They're also starting to grow in size a little more...

Which has a 1% chance per post, per Pokémon of moving to:

Level 3 - Feral - The Pokémon increases greatly in size and strength and becomes uncontrollably violent. In most cases, there is no choice but to put them down entirely.

Note that this only applies if you selected Realism Mode.
