Wish Upon a Star! Summer Event for Pokemon Masters!

Summer Event Pokemon Masters
Even when separated, wishes can still be heard.

Pokemon Masters EX has announced their Summer 2023 event. “Twin Stars Far Apart” will feature Tate & Liza as they are separated from each other due to an Ultra Wormhole. Anabel, Nanu and Archie are to also have a role in this story event.

This event will also introduce the Sync Pairs of Tate & Jirachi and Liza & Celesteela.

“Twin Stars Far Apart” scout pair event will run from June 29th to July 16th.

Cultural Background for “Twin Stars Far Apart” Event

It seems as if the “Twin Stars Far Apart” event is based on the Japanese holiday known as Tanabata. This holiday is also known as the Star Festival.

Normally it is held on the evening of July 7th. The origins of Tanabata goes back to a legend involving the Cowherd Star (Altair) and Weaver Star (Vega). Both are lovers that have been separated by the Milky Way. Though, they are allowed to meet once a year on the seventh day on the seventh month.

During Tanabata, children and adults write their wishes on narrow strips of paper and hang them on bamboo branches in homes or backyards. They will then pray in hopes that their wishes will come true.

The Pokemon Jirachi is based on the Tanabata traditions due to wish tags seen on it’s design. Meanwhile, Celesteela is based on Princess Kaguya from “The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter”. Celesteela’s design focus heavily on the bamboo where the princess was found as a baby. This may be why these Pokemon are being featured for the “Twin Stars Far Apart” event.
