Another plus is while knowing piano. You have access to programs on the PC to play and connect an electric piano to for multiple effects or instruments. Potentially make your own song from multiple layers and pieces at once.

That's easy to get around, though. I make my songs just by placing the notes manually, and with a few shortcuts I have no issue with it.
