I can't wait to live on my own, but I'll probably wait to buy a house instead of renting.

Who knows. Pays are always changing to, but that sounds like a nice chinch of change.

Yeah I doubt whatever pay I get is going to be that high at the start but who knows with how high rent in DC is it might be.
Average salary seems to be around $30K-ish.
For me, I'm happy I just landed a job that's going for $62K with a pension. Seriously, a pension is like finding a unicorn.
I only hope something nice like that could happen for me soon. I'm about tired of turning up nothing, but I'm holding out hope!

Don't give up, dude. I was in your spot for a while too. I was unemployed for almost all of 2016 and I was worried my skills and experience were no longer wanted or relevant to what was in demand. Two years later, different departments were in a heated tug of war for who could get me and I was even offered overtime project hours because they needed me that badly.
Hope is a weapon against fear. :D
Yeesh, that's a ton of rent. I remember when I went to college, rent for the apartment I lived in was $800 a month. I can't image rent at $3000 a month - I could barely even live in the $800 month apartment.
