Art Update, August 21

Today’s art post update lead me on an investigation based on my column that I wrote about defensive assignments for battling the unknown (not unown).  The original picture I wanted to use was so good, that I decided to leave it to the art post.

Talking with our esteemed staffer on the forums, Winter, many artists suffer from intellectual property theft:  people stealing their artwork.  Intellectual theft is when one uses without acknowledgement or uses while ignoring requests to not feature or duplicate without permission.  We here at Pokemon Crossroads try our best to adhere to this mantra as well.

The featured image in this art post was so good that I thought that Slyone89 must have copied it from somewhere.  This isn’t uncommon and by using Google’s “search by image,” you can see who else had this image before.  That turned provided me with the base image and nothing else.  My hat’s off to slyone89 for the beautiful art.   More art and some interesting notes on the piece after the break.

The journey with the reverse image search led me to this picture of a meadow in Kaibab National Forest in Arizona.

Does this scene look similar?  Waaay cool when you dig into the featured photo.  I love it.  Another piece by slyone89 is below

I like how the Pokedex has turned into an iPod.  He’s maybe dated himself a little because I think future Pokedexes will be Galaxy Notes or iPad Minis.  (No Oak, you can’t have the screw on Pokeball).  Mosey on over to his WordPress to check out some more interesting art from him.

Somewhat closer to real life, a plushie Shuckle was made by Zareidy.  I take this as cosplaying with beanies.  I think that this avoided the uncanny alley arguments of creepiness, though I think I prefer the shell to be a bit larger compared to the extremities.  Anyways, you can buy him/her here on Etsy!  I personally want the Togepi for my girlfriend.  Where was that Benjamin?

Next up is….

A trainer!  Or atleast that’s what dA told me.  I love the simple artwork (I’m a simpleton) and I wear a Squirtle Squad t-shirt. What else can I say?  A nice simple piece.

Lastly, the other piece that wow’ed me is part of a Nuzlocke:

This piece is so cool!  Check out the entire description over at dA and because that’s the only place that this does justice!  In short, they actually have done a tradelocke and drew it!  Collab with each other!  Harry, lets do Nuzlocke and we can draw each other similarly.  I’m sure my Pokedex is going to say “Noob Zune.”  (Those brown bricks were amazing!)
