It’s Tuesday which means it’s time for Crossroads Comics!
Today we’re going to take a look at Evil Plan. This is a story that is one of the longest running comics that made its home on Smackjeeves, running for thirteen long years. The story follows a supervillain, Dr. Kinesis, on a quest for world conquest. It starts with our other main character, Alice, taking on a job as an engineer for Dr. Kinesis. Through them we meet a whole cast of other character like Lemon, Lime, and Will. Together they start their silly adventures filled with gags and skin melting fruitcake. However, as Dr. Kinesis growns closer to his goals, the characters progress as well, and what starts as a comedy has a tonal shift into something much more sinister and serious. This is a story for those who want to see the bad guy win, and it’s been one of my favorite comics for the longest time. The comic’s main hub is still on Smackjeeves, due to the story being so close to ending when Smackjeeves made its shift, but it is well worth braving the platform to read this story. It’s a story of laughs, betrayal, and loyalty to bitter ends. It’s got superheroes and super villains, but not everything is as black and white as they might first appear. And it’s these ambiguous grays that make the story as complex as it is. Truly a worthwhile read to see the fruits of this thirteen year long labor of love from the author.
