English November TCG Set! Evolutions!

Base Set
The set that will be release after Steam Siege has finally been named. It is a reprint set but not the kind that you may have expected! Get ready to see the game evolve in an interesting way in November.

Evolutions will be the next set coming to American after Steam Siege. This set will be based on Japan’s 20th Anniversary Concept Pack which is meant to celebrate Pokemon’s 20th anniversary in the TCG. The Japanese set will be release on September 16th. This set is being marketed as “resurrecting the Pokemon TCG Base Set”. All that is known about this set is that it will feature M Slowbro EX, Surfing Pikachu and a few new BREAK Pokemon.

Below is the flavor text for Evolutions:

The Pokémon Legacy Evolves!

All Trainers and Pokémon grow and evolve—and this expansion restores the very first Pokémon trading cards to glory! With the exhilarating power of Mega Venusaur-EX, Mega Charizard-EX, and Mega Blastoise-EX, plus some wild surprises like Dragonite-EX, Ninetales BREAK, Machamp BREAK, and Mega Slowbro-EX, the classic hard-battling Pokémon and old-school Trainers are reinvented for a new generation. Ask Professor Oak to get you started, and reach new heights with the Pokémon TCG: XY—Evolutions expansion!

• Over 100 cards
• 12 new Pokémon-EX, including 5 Mega Evolution Pokémon
• 4 new Pokémon BREAK
• A reinvention of the very first Pokémon trading cards

Will this be a direct reprint of Base Set? I will think and hope not based on the last bullet point. If they did reprint Base Set as is then those cards will not be able to stand a chance with the current format. The game has changed a lot since Base Set and a Stage 2 Pokemon with 110 HP like Base Set Charizard won’t stand a chance against some of the big cards in the current format. So hopefully these cards really do evolve just as the name of the set is implying.

Evolutions will most likely be our last XY saga and XY BREAK set. It will be setting the stage for what will be our first Sun and Moon set that could be release in February.

Prereleases for Steam Siege starts next weekend. Steam Siege will be release on August 3rd and will be legal for Worlds in San Fransisco.

Evolutions will be release on November 2nd in the United States.
