Fantastic Fan Art: Mega Sableye

Here we are again – another FFA and another Mega Pokémon! This time around we are featuring the one and only – Mega Sableye. Was Mega Sableye what you were expecting design wise? Were you happy with the design? At first glance he does represent what we have come to know about Mega Pokémon. He does not stray too far from the original Pokémon’s design and he has some accentuated features. All in all I think we were delivered the same concept behind the original Sableye – cute and a bit weird! Regardless of our opinions on his design we have got some fantastic Mega Sableye art to showcase today. I hope you enjoy the artists and images we have featured.

Teatime-Rabbit’s Mega Sableye

We are starting off our pieces of Mega Sableye with a self described “messy fan art“. This piece caught my eye not because it has perfect lines or a complementary background – it’s doesn’t even have a background – but it’s amazing texture. This piece is fun and light! It isn’t without its depth but it’s certainly easy to view and a simple pleasure. Beyond the beautiful textures in this piece we can examine the detailing and shading on the gems. The artist is making this look easy to a passerby but we are going to look closely. Upon inspection you can pick out tons of colours used to shade and administer dimension to these gems. They’re gorgeous. So, Teatime-Rabbit‘s piece might be “messy fan art” upon first inspection but once we have taken some time to appreciate it we can definitely give this artist credit for having some awesome technique. Check out the rest of his gallery and let me know what you think!

Mega Sableye in a Cave

Here we have unique and somewhat eerie digital painting of Mega Sableye by KikiTheMonkey from deviantArt.. The focal point is undoubtably the gem held by Mega Sableye. It’s easy to appreciate the level of detail awarded to the gem as well, from the lines of light reflection to the various colours used in bringing it to life. Mega Sableye is peering out from behind his gem – and boy is he cute! Sableye might be an eerie Pokémon but there is definitely some charming qualities to him! Who couldn’t love those little hands and those big gem eyes – this artist depicts him perfectly. Once again the lighting and colours used to paint are fantastic. Mega Sableye varies from a warm colour to deep purple. Outside of our subject we have a cave setting. The artist does a suburb job of placing the Pokémon in the middle of this space with the cave lightening towards us and darkening in the shadows behind Mega Sableye. The textures and light depictions are, once again, quite beautiful!

Mega Sableye Pixel Art

Next up we have something for the pixel artists and sprite fans. A pixel art rendition of Mega Sableye! This image was created by Zermonious on deviantArt. I personally adore this piece. According to the artist’s page they took a long time to complete the gem – and it was paid off for sure! The gem is fairly complex and they captured the light reflections and transparency perfectly. Sprite art is often dismissed as simple but it’s anything but that – this piece is a fine example.

Mega Mawile and Mega Sableye

We are finishing up this edition of FFA with something a little different – a combination of two Megas! Here we have Mega Mawile and Mega Sableye, this painting was done by bluekomadori on deviantArt. If you like this image I would definitely recommend checking out their page – there are lots of beautiful paintings to check out there. Although Mega Mawile seems to be the focal point of this image I want to (obviously) draw your attention to our them this week – Mega Sableye! This artist clearly has the capabilities to paint the Pokémon we have come to know, colour them well, and shade them wonderfully but what I love about this is the expression of Mega Sableye. It’s not easy to create emotions when you have gems for eyes and I applaud the artist for making use of body language as well as the positioning of his mouth. This is the type of image you want to get prints of to hang up in your art space for inspiration – the colours and subjects coming together flow fantastically. There might even be a hint to what Pokémon we will explore next in this image! Can you guess it? Leave Braixen a VM and let her know what you think!

Until next time.
