One of the DUMBEST things I've ever read in a textbook was in one for Java programming:
"When you 'surf the net,' the Internet is the net you are surfing."
Omg. Yes, I totally forgot I was only four years old and still learning that cows go moo and chickens go cluck cluck cluck. What a stupid waste of money that book was.
