I want to go to Australia too... D:
Yep, the meat industry will tell you that dead animal flesh will help you with iron but it's all crap; I was anemic when I ate meat, then when I stopped, all of a sudden my iron levels were restored. Why? Because I began to eat much better food that actually aided my health. :] Greens, beans and even corn flakes (fortified) are a much safer, healthier, and cruelty-free way to get your nutrients.
Can't eat those regularly though. The cereal section of my dining doesn't have corn flakes. The deli section doesn't serve anything but wraps and sandwiches, plus it usually closes before I get to it. And the vegan section only has beans every few weeks. Meat's the only thing I can eat regularly. That and pizza. Everything is fried for the most part. It's a very unhealthy environment.
I dunno why, but I've always been kind of a picky eater. I always take care with what I go out and get and buy....then again my family doesn't make it any easier xD. Especially with how late they like to eat. I'd rather not only think of myself when it comes to breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Then we'd all have such different eating schedules...and that'd be baaaaaaad D:
The time is upon us...

Yeah it especially sucks for some of my friends. I have an islamic friend who literally cannot eat ANYTHING in the cafeteria because she can't eat anything with meat. She even can't eat stuff that's come in contact with meat. The vegan station also functions as a chef's selection and dessert section as well so the vegan food is prepared in the same place as a lot of meat so she can't eat that. The pizza and pasta station prepares all their food in the same place, whether it contains meat or not. Same with the deli and everything else. She can only eat the cereal or buy her own food. And what's even worse is that freshmen HAVE to buy a meal plan so that's thousands of dollars down the drain for her.
Freshmen have to unless you live within a 50 mile radius of the college. Meaning unless you live within an hour of campus you have to pay thousands of dollars for a meal plan and housing. That's not a huge issue for me because my family can afford it but my friend's family has a lot of financial problems so it's not that simple for her.
