The Last Poster Wins! [v21]

Yeah I was actually thinking that if I could get to a good ending point at some time, then later on I could go back and split this up into chapters, add more details, make the transitions a little less abrupt in some places, etc. and then post it here, on fictionpress, and on deviantart. I think my main problem is this story has been soooo much fun to write that I don't want to stop. Like with WAR, most of those stories, I was pretty meh about them by the time I reached the end. Sound Off was an exception but I lost enthusiasm pretty quickly following it. I think the combination of creating a new species, researching so many historical details, and getting to reintegrate four of my retired roleplaying characters into this story has made it something that is way too much fun to stop writing.

And yes I'm currently at 15,126 words or about 27.25 pages. Granted if I adjusted the spacing it'd probably be shorter than that.

I do have to say, the writing prompt and parameters were fun to work with, but with limited time and with other sections to tackle, I kind of had to touch, go, and get to some kind of ending, even if it does seem a bit open-ended.

Working on Drawn Art now. I rocked the Lopunny sketch, but Gardevoir is actually a tough Pokemon to draw! I've drawn Gallade before but not Gardevoir and it's a little bit trickier, but I'll keep trying. I just hope I make it in time because the deadline for the week is swiftly approaching and there's not a whole lot of time to work with.

And I think I'm the first one, beyond Neo, to maim or kill off a character on my own side... Do I get a Most Vicious prize? XD

Cool. Hopefully it won't be too much for you. I know length doesn't equal quality but this story has just been so fun for me to write that I can't stop!

The time travel and competition elements I sorta wove into one thing? It really sorta worked out because when I made up the species that the story centers around, I made it like part of their natural species activities to compete with other for mating rights so then weaving in time travel for the plot was really smooth. I'm working the butterfly in a little bit more prominently right now. The main problem the gang faces right now is that they don't have a map of Japan so they have no idea how to get to kyoto and since they have no rice (and only Antioch and Akio actually know what rice is) they can't buy a map so they're in this dilemma of how do they get to kyoto. I'll probably stop again once they get a map.

*thumbs up* Okay cool I wasn't really sure if I was allowed to kill anyone so I just sorta kept it vague? I might go back and edit in one kill if that's not too much of a problem for you just because my intention had been to kill that character but since I wasn't sure if I could I wanted to sorta leave it up in the air.

You're allowed! And sure, kill off one if you'd like! It's just when it comes to Onyx Circle members, that's the only case where I'd like to be the one to decide if they've had it. If they get pummeled hard enough, they'll kick the bucket. As for Queen Taiya, she's the final boss. Things gonna get dicey if you try to take her on!

I'm just not a good speedreader. If I skim and I try reading the paragraph slower again, I realize just how much I missed. Pretty much 75% of the stuff goes over my head if I blast through it.

And I've killed off plenty of RP characters. PLENTY. What do I do? I just make others. Easy cheesy! I don't really get emotionally attached to my characters. Allowing characters to die makes for such good and valuable plot points. If Athena kills Phoebe, she'll be MARKED by Black Lotus for sure! And then imagine all the fun Noble will have then! But yeah, it does make things interesting. It happens all the time in video games and movies so... why not RPs?

I axed a few NPCs in the past but I'm not sure those really count because they're not like official RP characters, they're NPCs. Does that make sense? Perceval kinda falls into a gray area but I'd even argue if I had axed him it wouldn't have really counted as my killing off someone because he wasn't really developed all that much. Even worse some of the ones that died (like Madeline in PXRASE) were technically already dead. Where the line gets really tricky is in the other "A Single Element" RPs. Across the various iterations of the RP, I've created a ton of characters and wrote a variety of stories with them. Thing is, most of them were created already slated to die. I just sorta wrote their stories up until that point. So would that count? I'm not sure.

Weirdly enough, I'm usually not really one for killing off characters, but I've killed like eight NPCs in this RP so far... A nameless assassin, three Thundercrash Gang guys, three Shadow Mask guys, and Kirrun.
Although, admittedly, I hadn't given Kirrun a whole lot of development...

Xavier is actually a character I've used often and have developed a lot. That doesn't stop me from blinding him though.

Honestly most RPs I've been in don't really have high bodycounts...

Also Neo, I've actually already read through your story... I think I'll refrain from commenting on it until I distribute grades. I did enjoy it though. :3

Yeah, that's the thing, a lot of my characters that I'm quick to drop don't get a lot of development or it's development I am okay with forgoing.

Also, glad you enjoyed Chronoshock! I think if I had more time, I probably would have developed it further and made more to it, but it was still a fun, short story to crank out. To me, first person stories just feel more fun to write, but there are occasions, like in the RP, where third person is kind of a necessity.

Oh yeah, I've had characters die and go to some kind of afterlife. Of course, it ends up being a kind of "time out" for a while, but it does make things interesting. Some people might think it's god-modding, but generally, I think it's fine.

And geez, I've got to hurry the frick up with Drawn Art. Problem is I've got such a busy day tomorrow, too. Exercise class in the morning, concert later tomorrow night, and then Game of Thrones. Frick. And I've got to have everything done, coloring, background, and all that other stuff ready because there's no way in oblivion I'm going to have any time on Monday to throw it in before 5PM.

I at least have the line art for Lopunny and Gardevoir done. Just need to do Medicham's and then it's quickly crank out the color time. I hope I can pull this off, because the character art looks GREAT and it would be a shame if that dinky concept of RUNNING OUT OF TIME screwed me over for this one. :P
